About to play my first session of #DrawSteel in roughly two hours folks! I don’t think I’ve been this excited looking at a new TTRPG since I first looked at PF2E 2 years ago.

The #D&D 5.5E Forgotten UA has a few cool subclasses but MAN it’s making me wish they’d actually gone through with their idea of “multiple classes can pick this subclass” from the Strixhaven UA. It’s so upsetting that only Fighters can be Purple Dragon Knights or only Paladins can have 1/2

I just learned that apparently the D&D 5.5E DMG and Monster Manual have completely removed monster creation guidelines and are telling GMs to just reskin their monsters instead. Why even make a Dungeon Master’s GUIDE if you will not include such crucial guidelines to help newbie DMs?

Phantasmal Calamity is very quickly becoming my favourite spell in #Pathfinder2E. Anytime you face like 5 or more foes, the ability to trade 1d6 damage lower than a Fireball to carry a small chance of fully taking an enemy out of combat is INSANE.

Mine is that a LOT of players who think combat is unfun and boring and unengaging, and feel that it grinds the narrative to a halt, would feel differently if 5E’s combat wasn’t their primary reference. The game makes combat feel like a mediocre obstacle rather than a fun part of the story.

My two #pathfinder2e games resume tomorrow and day after, my #D&D 5.5E game resumes at the end of January, and I think a #DrawSteel game happens in February. We are so back.

One of the subtlest consequences of Pathfinder sticking to Vancian (and pseudo-Vancian) spellcasting while trying to make a balanced game is that… spells aren’t balanced against one another, and I think they aren’t even meant to be. SpellCASTERS are balanced against one another (and the rest 1/X
