Bought/built/filled a cedar raised garden bed for my Mom for Mothers' Day and got her this fun pop up lilac bouquet as a card so I'd have a more easily givable gift (since we pretty much hit Lowe's yesterday and let her pick out the bed and soil; which spoils the surprise but whatever).

Got today's 10k in 57:16*, good for third in my age group and 11th overall. Right cankle still not 100% and I puked at the start. Maybe could've milked top 10 out of myself on another day. Beautiful course though. *10 seconds longer than the Callous Daoboys album I listened to while I ran it.

This is wonderful. The early biographical stuff in particular shades in a lot. Like, if yr an “our band could be your life” fan this story gives your some poetic bookends to that slice of his life for sure.

Gerrymandering is going to keep escalating til it comes down to drawing a line to one side or the other of a hill inhabited by the Platonically Ideal Median Voter for the fate of democracy and they won’t even know what’s going on or why it matters.

Can you get Hantavirus over and over again at a low level that just kinda makes you stupider and achier and weaker like with Covid or does it just tend to smite people?

It must suck so much to already be wrestling for the blood money company, but then they come to you like, "bad news, Phil; there's only gonna be half as much blood money this year". and you take the deal ANYWAY.

Just poured hours into understanding Kirchoff's Junction when the real problem was that I haven't done System of Equations in my students' lifetimes; luckily that's the kind of thing ai is good at solving (also, I built the circuit on Phet DC Circuit sim and checked my work that way).

The other fascinating aspect is the feminization; defacto mommy milkers full of everyday essentials sold as a masculine accessory for a dangerous world. Also worth noting; models/looks at co i saw yesterday were way more maga coded; this is minimalist aesthetic but it's prolly all the same factoty.

Trajectory from Taco Bell Cashier-> Underpaid CNA for Alzheimer's patients-> Camgirl who ends up servicing the DHS Secretary's bimbofied husband (and who can also give a really informed rundown on internet legal history) is a modern novel unto itself.

Just got an ad for what I think can best be described as Chud Saddlebags. Like, its a pair of zipped pouches that you carry the same way you would a shoulder holster for a pistol. But it's for like, your oversized Samsung that you use to complain about immigrants you don't even see irl most days.

6 mile race in 54:48 on an iffy wheel. Show last night; 90% sure made a new friend. Funeral for the teacher who a helped me direct my first play when I was a student and who I judged Poetry Out Loud with when I later became a teacher myself.

The percentile sounds more impressive than the more realistic, "yeah, top billion or so (but definitely not top 100 million); you'd think with this many, the world would be better off".

The major headwind in Act 3 of Turing 9th Graders into 10th Graders is that all the behavior starts to slip and necessitates a rash of crashouts/writeups. At a certain point, the seating chart is less work than spurring kids to manage themselves so much that we overrun break time by 10 minutes.

really pushes the language of wrestling into jazz/improvised performance art territory; like it follows the formal outline of that bit but has all these other asides and character moments and suspensions of the diegesis within it.

Bilmuri is sideloading me into pop country, but in sorta the way I remember overhearing pop country? It's not 1:1 but maybe the same way chillwave 80s pop pilled ppl? (Bilmuri has some big moments like that as well.) I like this thing, but it's pushing my taste in a neat way I think.
