Don Lemon was arrested today by federal officers for doing his job: reporting the news. For years, we were lectured about the need to protect the First Amendment. Now, journalists are being arrested by the very people who styled themselves as its fiercest defenders. That hypocrisy is staggering.

This is a win for all who protested, but I believe ending the “enhanced activities” isn’t enough. All ICE operations in Maine should cease. Kristi Noem must resign or be impeached. Agents who have committed crimes must be independently investigated. No masks. No warrantless searches or arrests.

Good. ICE must be accountable for what they do. No regulation, no oversight—no support. And to be clear, I would have voted no on the House version of the DHS bill for that reason.

Another American citizen—a nurse—was shot and killed by ICE in Minneapolis, and the administration is trying to tell us not to believe our own eyes and ears.  In Lewiston, we stood with our neighbors and demanded an end to ICE’s lawlessness in Maine and across the country.
