Saying we shouldn't restrict smartphones for children because it's the apps not the phone that do the damage is like saying we should let children have access to cars as long as they don't drive them.

Kids thrive on calm, not chaos. Schools where teachers have no authority cause anxiety, not schools where rules are clear and enforced. For children, nothing is more unsettling than feeling like no one’s in charge.

Two exciting possibilities for the Black Country in the AI announcement today: - “further [AI] zones will be created in as-yet-unnamed “de-industrialised areas of the country with access to power”” - “accelerate investment in energy sources including renewables and small modular nuclear reactors”

Agreed. The more help the better. We’re trying to do our bit by making these resources free for schools. If you know anyone who may benefit please do share:

hubs is a mistake the work done by the hubs is amazing and needs to be fully funded. We are nowhere near where is needed with computer science education nationally and there is so much more to do.

Dear School Leaders , Please check on your SENCOs. Many will have statutory deadlines to meet this week and some will find themselves working in the school holidays when they should be focusing on family . Thanks in advance with your support with this.

Exam adjustments aren’t new I had some for GCSE and then typed my A-Level and University Exams. They are so so important but have been around for well over 20 years.

Schools shouldn't frame themselves as families. While well intentioned, think a mistake. 1. Not realistic and can't really be achieved. 2. Philosophically dubious as children already have families, making it an overreach. 3. Leads to children and adults having loyalties that can't be matched.

Just before tomorrow begins - an important message: Grades 1-3 are not fails. Us or Xs are. Anyone with a 1-3 HAS GOT A GCSE. And for some of those kiddos, a 1 or a 2 or 3 can be a phenomenal result that they deserve to be proud of. Let’s be a bit more responsible in our language.
