My New Toy With a Combustion Engine
I still think rampant consumerism is gross, and a scourge, but here I am with a new 2021 car in my driveway, having traded up from a 2020 version of a similar model. This probably wasn't a financially wise choice.

Perfect Northwest Moments
Ferries and sailboats went about their business. Fish-and-chip shops beckoned with their smell. Happy tourists and families crowded the boardwalk, so many of them holding ice cream cones that I noticed one of the shops had a sign explicitly forbidding ice cream in the store.

Submission deadline hits in two days for a bunch of lit magazines! I've spent the past few months submitting my writing for the first time ever. I don't expect much to come of it, but I'm proud of myself for trying.

All the Wholesome Families

Breaking Down in the Sludge

I Bought a Coffee Mug
Mugs feel like a thing you should always buy secondhand unless you find one that's extra special. Like children's clothing, they are easily destroyed by their owners, and are consigned to thrift shops in bulk when someone finally decides to clean out that overcrowded cabinet.

Giving Spring its Flowers
Call it false spring if you must, but last weekend I sat on my deck in 60-degree weather, sunshine on my bare arms, and that's good enough for me. I watched a series of small planes circle to and from the regional airport, and guessed that it was

This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.
