also regarding the lack of pics and sketches. uhhh pigeon pics are probably postponed until march i guess? i really don't care for heading out in this weather even though i probably should for my own mental wellbeing.. as for art, idk. when it happens™ i'll get around to uploading some older stuff.

well I found a copy on Mercari. it's kinda pricey though. not expensive, but not "1999 software that kinda sucks lol" price. i need to import some rare(?) flash disks for my dc-2, so if nobody has snagged them when i get around to it, i'll see about justifying the price lol.

I was hoping to snag this for some contemporary video capture since I have cameras from this period with video out, but also because the box and software lmao. But, yahoo auctions be yahoo auctions, so alas. Whoever got it, archive the fucking discs you little bitch >:(

ended up missing the start of the joshimuz gta sa community race (wasn't participating, perhaps next race), checked racers to spectate during it and saw this accidental bit of clickbait lol. guess it worked? but i was gonna watch anyways since they were using the sm64 movement mod which looked fun.

well they were always there. it's barely possible to see at all in right lighting conditions, but hmm... that's still going to bother the hell out of me because i really like this camera, but... yeah.

some macro shots on the Ricoh DC-2L. The DM-2 LCD Monitor attachment allows for manual focusing, but it has a lot of restrictions that I can only describe as design oversights.

and no i don't have any DJ1000 pigeon pics like i promised. because i love sabotaging myself, i bought a full battery set, both for this camera and the ricoh dc-2 i was still waiting on. i instead used some batts that were "still good", but they weren't enough to power the ccd lol.

two shots I took on the Mitsubishi DJ-1000 with the knowledge they'd look fucked up lol. this is the main appeal for me over more conventional digital cameras. hoping for an opportunity for some good indoor lighting shots because it gets super fucked up with the noise captured.

well i did stop at the park, tried to take some pigeon pics and some woodland shots with the DJ-1000... ...except I didn't, because the card didn't delete properly, and stale images are on there and none of the pics I took. Starting to not like this camera lol.

okay it was supposed to rain, and it did, but there was a clear spot on the precipitation map, so planned ahead to test the camera some more. unfortunately i didn't account for the open air blasting of storm wind + the batteries died on me while there lol

anyway due to scheduling issues i didn't get a chance to head out to a different spot that would have had great opportunity for pics, and of course it's raining tomorrow. another big storm is inbound but it's missing my area (per warnings) but still looking miserable out there.

stalling a mild hybrid is not like stalling a regular car. very strange. not that i intend to do that lol, i know how to drive stick, but the fight between the electric motor and the engine that didn't have enough momentum to turn over on the slight incline had me thinking the engine had booked it.

Okay, here's the archive for DAT2BMP, a image processing tool for converting Mitsubishi DJ-1000 .DAT into .BMP by Haruya Mori, primarily for use on a HP 200LX Palmtop which is highly cool. It does require era-appropriate hardware (or 86box) but it's quite interesting and works pretty well.

Okay, I found a copy of this one program made by some guy in 2000 to process DJ-1000 .DAT files. It's a CLI program with a bunch of parameters, but these are just default. Image 1: DJ-1000 Viewer default Image 2: DJ-1000 Viewer with adjusted settings Image 3: DAT2BMP default

Seeing a contemporary review from some Japanese dork on a geocities page (yes), it seems the viewfinder woes are just the fact of using it lol. Point and shoot? It's more like hipfiring. I'm busy doing some research on things, which is how I found their site archived via a different rabbit hole.

I will do like a proper overview/how to use/whatevers with the DJ1000 and Mavica (and any other stuff I pick up if I do, these were just bucketlist cameras honestly), towards summer next year when it warms up again. Not sure how that will manifest, but it's something I have in mind.
