This doesn't matter, but I've been looking into more of the files in Gens 2024 more closely now, and I'm baffled by several of the seemingly random changes they made. For one thing, they decided to pad all of the AR file entries to 16, but they accidentally padded the *data* instead.

UPDATE: I resolved this a while ago. I've been working on refactoring the code to make loose aax files work correctly. It's very challenging for a number of reasons. Basically I have to use a hardcoded list of cpk/aax streaming files from gens 2011 and patch the acb from gens 2024 at runtime.

I got audio streaming to work from cpk files (and soon will support loose aax files as well)! There's a weird thing where sometimes cri atom doesn't call my hook. I haven't figured out why yet but I'll fix that next.

Yesterday I confirmed a theory I had some time ago. The game doesn't parse the awb files at all. It just jumps to the offsets in the copy of the awb toc data that's stored in the acb and streams. So if you generate a custom awb toc and store it in the acb, you can stream from a non-awb file!

Is there an app you can use to scan some Japanese text and have it just automatically lookup word meanings, hiragana spellings, etc. and add any new words to an Anki(droid) deck? I want to mine words, but the process of having to manually lookup and add every single one always burns me out.

For some reason, some of the .csb files in Gens 2011 have multiple synths of the same name, which are exact duplicates?? This seems to be a mistake? Weird that their tooling allowed it! Anyway, it was crashing my csb -> acb conversion code lmao, adding in a check to account for this now.
