Not entirely a #redraw this time, but similar idea. I drew him so serious last time, and he’s anything but serious 😂 decided to have him sleepy and scratching his belly instead. He’s goofy and lovable, so I wanted to actually portray that this time 💕

Sort of a #redraw of a drawing from last year. Last year I was trying to simplify the style. This year I’m trying to simplify the coloring. I think with how detailed and intricate I like to be with my lines, I want to try going for a simpler shading technique…perhaps a little less sharp shading?

Back from the dead? Maybe. Sharing art here for the first time in a long-ass time because I forget this place exists and I’m still heavily burnt out from years of putting too much pressure on myself? More likely.

Mistakes are necessary to improve your art. If you avoid making mistakes(which often means not even trying), you avoid your growth. When you accept mistakes, they will point you towards what you need to study. Mistakes are not your enemy. They are your roadmap for learning.

I often have to remind myself that my art doesn’t have to be perfect. Sometimes you’ll hear “you have to do it this way or you won’t be taken seriously professionally.” Like what’s the point of art if you can’t express yourself genuinely?

Sometimes I forget I can just…draw for myself. So I was playing around with color a bit. Also had some ideas recently about a character…and maybe a story. We’ll see, but for now I like her, grouchy millennial woman 😌 Side note: I gave her my saggy pointy-ass b👀bs since I no longer need them.
