I've been thinking. I’m not a gamedev, but if I was, I would make an online multiplayer game instead of a "live service" game. Pay me €30 upfront, you get the multiplayer mode, and also single player content (campaign, training mode, etc). No microtransactions, you unlock cosmetics by playing.
