The theme for our 2026 conference is 'Healing and Harms'. We invite papers that explore these ostensibly opposing dynamics, highlighting, challenging and complexifying religion, non-religion and spirituality’s role(s) in both healing and harm, in their myriad forms, and across diverse contexts.

SAVE THE DATE: We are pleased to announce that the SocRel annual conference for 2026 will be held at the University of Nottingham, from the 29th of June to the 1st of July in the Monica Partridge Building, University Park. The call for papers will be shared in the coming weeks.

Thought-provoking reflections on the sociology of religion by Professor Linda Woodhead and Professor Gordon Lynch. It is quite a time to be studying the sociology of religion, with so much rapid change and diversity in society. But it is also an exciting time to see how discussions develop.

Incredible session led by @renasha.bsky.social and @krysiawally.bsky.social with Dr Naomi Lawson Jacobs reflecting on the SocRel Chair’s Response Day 2025 on Religion, Disability and Neurodiversity. Such important discussions had around accessibility, inclusivity, equity, and good practice!
