One of my favorite music stories is Steve Kilbey of The Church producing Mae Moore. She or her label wanted Gord Downie, Canada's most popular rock singer and later a national icon, on a guest vocal. He was like, "I don't know who he is and I don't like it," so he buried Downie way down in the mix.

One thing I’ve always appreciated about vintage 80s Clannad is their willingness to bung shit tons of reverb onto their vocals, thus creating a very ethereal effect. I think this influenced me!

When I haven't been able to work on a creative project for a while and am also blue about how my released projects have fared, I find it useful to go read a chapter or two of those WIPs, play around with them, and remind myself, "Hey, I'm really not that bad at this after all!" It gives me hope.

I find it funny people still try to act like there's a positive version of "male bonding." As a dude, my experience is when it's not being crude, it's just reminiscing about activities you did together. If you haven't done any activities together for a while, your friendship just withers away.
