Today is the first time I’ve missed making a card for #kidlitartpostcard day in a very long time. I’ve also left my agent, so it’s time to reassess.

Received a delivery today of a book I loved as a child that sparked my interest into monsters and mayhem. Written by Norman Bridwell of Clifford the Big Red Dog fame, also a fellow Herron School of Art alumnus. The one I had previously had a different cover.

What I find interesting is that, since books come out years after they are acquired, then most likely those authors weren't chasing trends...they just happened to be on trend. How, then, does a trend form? Like, it must all happens behind the scenes before we start to see it on shelves. #kidlitchat

Today's old spooky season illustration is a twofer, because, why not?

It's been a year since I last posted this one. Not exactly spooky, but I thought it was fun

To catch up with the postings, I'm doubling up the old spooky season illustrations today. A girl that was likely a pain to babysit, and a man that can never wear a hat for long. Enjoy.

I spent a good chunk of yesterday narrowing down 10 illustrations to submit for a juried exhibition. I have several illustrations that didn't make the cut, however, they are more seasonaly specific, so I can post them for the next several days for spooky season. We'll start it off with Baba Yaga.

So, I finally took the leap and left my literary agency and my agent. I'm looking for an agent/agency that helps develop their talent as well as knowing how to best market them. Any suggestions on where to go from here? #kidlit #ChildrensBooks #Illustration #Fantasy

I've been spending the evening drawing a stoner vulture for some sort of festival in Illinois, but since I can't show that until the shirts are done, this is a good time to dig out this old trio for the season.
