While no financial assistance can undo their trauma, the victims compensation program plays an essential role in helping survivors rebuild their lives. These programs need federal and state dollars now – turning our back on victims in not an option.

Without a state budget and the increasing federal funding cuts, our victims service organizations are running dangerously low on funds.   I’m calling on Congress and our state lawmakers to support our victims and the critical investments in our recovery programs.

This is not just a devastating day for York County, it is a devastating day for our entire Commonwealth. Today, families lost their loved ones as three police officers were killed in the line of duty, serving their community bravely.

Please send prayers to the officers and those involved in the shooting in York County. As we learn more, follow all guidance from police and stay away from the area.

What happened at the Clairton Coke Works should never have occurred and it's our responsibility to ensure preventative measure are taken to stop future accidents.   By firing employees and closing down our federal partners, the Trump administration is putting thousands of our miners in real danger.

Born and raised in a working-class town, I take worker safety very seriously.   If the Trump administration does care about Pennsylvania miners, then they must reinstate the protections at HHS that keep our workers safe on the job and in the mines.

Mining is a risky job and the men and women who work in our coal mines deserve to know they are protected if things go wrong. We will always stand with our miners but the Trump administration’s cuts to safety research puts our miners at risk. HHS and Secretary RFK Jr. must keep NIOSH open.

Hispanic heritage with its rich culture is American history. This month we celebrate the contributions Latinos have made in the US as we reaffirm our commitment to this community that continues to face threats from the Trump administration. Gun violence is indiscriminate.   No one deserves to be shot and killed in the United States of America.

From the mothers, fathers, sons and daughters, workers, pilots, crew, and first responders, we remember everyone who died on September 11th. The Flight 93 Memorial stands as a testament to the brave actions of those on board who prevented another attack. May their memories never be forgotten.

People deserve to be safe at school, safe on their campus, & safe in their community. The shooting of Charlie Kirk in Utah is horrifying & targeting anyone for their speech or their beliefs is unacceptable. Gun violence is uniquely an American problem and it is one we can & must do something about.

Since taking office, this administration has made a commitment to reducing gun violence in our communities- and we've made significant progress.    I sat down with the Office of Gun Violence Prevention to discuss future strategies to keep gun violence rates down and our communities safe.

The State Senate remains unwilling to support our transit agencies and the hundreds of thousands of students and workers who rely on mass transit everyday. That's why our administration has taken steps to approve SEPTA's requested funding & preserve services for their riders for the next two years.

Every county in PA has a public transit agency that needs state dollars to provide their services. The state legislature must get this done now & pass a budget.

As the Trump administration continues to illegally fire federal employees and reverse longstanding protections for workers, Pennsylvania will always make sure our unions have a seat at the table.

The COVID vaccine development was one of the largest & most successful responses to a deadly pandemic that we have ever seen, saving millions of lives in the process. The Trump administration’s decision to pull access to the COVID vaccine is dangerous to the health & safety of Americans nationwide.

We see the biggest transformations in our neighborhoods when we invest directly into community programs, just like Philly Youth Basketball. Kids and teens from across Philadelphia are able to find joy and friendship in these spaces while staying out of trouble and finding a purpose in life.

Creating safe spaces for kids and teenagers to spend their time keeps them off the streets and away from violence. Philly Youth Basketball is one of those safe spaces that provides room for them to play but also receive educational support, social emotional learning, & even career exposure.

Yesterday, we began with a moment of silence to remember the two men that died in the U.S. Steel Clairton Coke Works facility explosion last month. We honor their memories and the other men and women who have died while on the job.

It was great to see so many working men and women of greater Pittsburgh and southwest Pennsylvania, walk side by side with each other in the parade today. No matter what union you belong to, all workers stand together - because an attack on one is an attack on all.

The labor movement was born in Pittsburgh. As the son of a union bus driver I was proud to walk with the laborers and countless other unions in the Pittsburgh Labor Day Parade. These men and women built this city, our Commonwealth, and our country and I’m proud as hell to be with them today.

One of the core roles of violence prevention efforts is to heal the individuals who have already experienced violence or loss so that they don't seek violence in return.    Uplift's hope line is a symbol of these efforts and how youth are able to find healing and support in their own communities.

Pennsylvania's 988 operators will continue to serve LGBTQ+ youth, ensuring they are connected with the resources they need when they're in crisis.    The hate and callousness directed at our LGBTQ+ community from the federal government will not be tolerated in Pennsylvania.

As we head into Labor Day weekend, our unions & workers continue to face union-busting and anti-worker attacks.   I'm the proud son of a union bus driver, and as your Lieutenant Governor, Pennsylvania will always support our unions, your right to organize, and the workers who keep PA on the rise.

Many of our communities are feeling the impact of the Trump administration's cuts to federally funded projects like this one in Delco & Philly. Projects that would have improved safety, reduced flooding, and mitigated the impacts of natural disasters before they occurred.

In the last two years, we've invested $15 million into over 200 of our non-profits to improve security of their facilities and keep Pennsylvanians safe.    From churches, synagogues, and mosques to rec centers and community spaces, your safety comes first.

When more dollars are directed at community resources, more people benefit. The Governor & I have advocated for more violence prevention funds every year we've been in office to give organizations like Uplift the ability to reach more people and provide counseling to those impacted by gun violence.

The investments we’re making in our violence prevention and response programs have a direct correlation to how many people will receive these services. Organizations like Uplift are doing fantastic work, providing grief support in schools and rec centers alike for children impacted by violence.

I’m horrified and heartbroken at the shooting that took place this morning at Annunciation Catholic School in Minnesota. Children deserve to be safe and feel safe at their schools.   I've reached out to Minnesota Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan to offer my support during this incredibly difficult time.

Pennsylvania is working at the speed of business, and that means connecting our home-grown companies with larger businesses to expand productivity and the services they provide.   This isn't a handout. It's a helping hand for the entrepreneurs that are growing our economy.

We know that hurt people, hurt people, and thats why investing in the organizations that step in after violence occurs is so important. Uplift received a V.I.P. state grant that will provide over 100 schools and dozens of families with counseling sessions to help them heal after loss.

Pennsylvania lost a champion for justice with the passing of former Pardons Secretary Brandon Flood. We are keeping his family, friends and colleagues in our thoughts and prayers.

Mass transit is not a blue or red issue and it’s not an individual county issue. This is a Pennsylvania issue. When transit services don’t receive fair and equitable funding, we all feel the impact as the southeast sees service cuts beginning today.

Since the beginning of the year the Governor has had a plan to fairly fund Pennsylvania programs and direct resources to the places that need it the most, while maintaining fiscal responsibility. Senate Republicans must return to the capital and pass a fair and balanced budget now.

On Sunday, the southeast will see the first round of SEPTA cuts go into effect as many bus and metro services will be reduced or gone completely. The State House has already passed bills to fund all of our transit agencies. Senate Republicans must approve appropriate and fair funding measures now.

As the LGBTQ community continues to face threats against their rights to marry and receive healthcare, we must do more to protect them from discrimination. When I was a State Rep., I supported the Fairness Act to expand non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ Pennsylvanians –

Threats of violence is still violence perpetrated on our communities and it’s not acceptable here or anywhere in this country. I’m grateful for the response of local and state law enforcement who responded quickly to this false threat and I hope the entire Villanova community can rest easy tonight.
