It was an honor to meet Rev. Jackson two years ago. From the front lines of the civil rights movement to global human rights advocacy, his moral courage moved a nation forward. His work was inspirational to me and so many others. May his legacy and memory forever be a blessing. Rest in power.

As we approach our 250th anniversary of this nation, I am reminded of the service and strength of our previous leaders like George Washington that founded this country on the belief that there could be something better–that people could choose their leadership & choose again. Happy Presidents’ Day.

By directing state dollars to PA youth programs, kids and teenagers have more places to go when they’re not in school that are safe and fun.   Saundra’s program, The Link 4 Youth, directly benefited from these investments, accepting over a dozen more students into their program for at-risk youth.

To honor Black History Month, Pittsburgh Public Schools teamed up with the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates to recognize the Black leaders making a difference in the south west – including my wife and Second Lady, Blayre Holmes Davis.   Black history is not just in the past, it’s happening every day.

The BOOST grant has helped thousands of kids gain access to fun, educational, and enriching afterschool and summer programs.   The 2026-27 budget proposal increases our investment in BOOST so that these programs continue to open doors for children and teenagers.

Last week I was in Franklin County at the local Y, listening to community members speak on the work they’re doing to address youth violence and improve public safety with the help of state grants.

When the federal government backed away from funding SNAP in 2025, PA 211 call centers stepped up and connected people with food banks and volunteer opportunities.   This budget proposes a 33% increase in state funding for PA 211 services so more Pennsylvanians can find help when they’re in crisis.

Through medical advancements or space engineering, Pennsylvanians are at the forefront of research and scientific breakthroughs. It was great to be back at the University of Pittsburgh with @governor.pa.gov to celebrate the next chapter of biomedical and aerospace discoveries.

We’ve made significant progress reducing crime in PA but that doesn’t mean we stop working. Even one life lost to gun violence is one too many and that’s why we’re going to keep working with our partners in law enforcement and the community stakeholders to further this progress.

Our Administration is backing a comprehensive approach to solving the epidemic of gun violence. And in this proposed budget, we recommit to investments in law enforcement, community organizations, victims services, and generating economic opportunities.   These investments are making PA safer.

The 2026-27 Budget is a roadmap to how we build a Pennsylvania that works for all of us. Whether that’s workforce development programs, victims compensation funds, tax cuts for seniors, or investing in education, our state budget is how we achieve all of that and more.

Happy Black History Month, Pennsylvania!

Today, PA gained our next major investment in this Commonwealth. Eli Lilly will build a new state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in the Lehigh County – an investment of $3.5 billion, built by union workers, and expected to create at least 850 new jobs over the next five years.

We’ve taken a whole-of-government approach to addressing child care challenges in PA – tripling the child care tax credit, securing $25 million for our child care teachers, and identifying ways state government can be a better partner in child care for our communities.

As your Lieutenant Governor, my office has worked closely with our partners to drive down child care costs for families, improve wages for child care workers, and explore options to bring child care to under-served communities.

Since day one, our Administration has said that government should work for the people.   And since then we’ve cut red tape, opened up opportunities to Pennsylvanians, and modernized outdated guidelines so that Pennsylvania works at the speed of business.

Like many other projects in PA, the Trump Administration halted federal funding for the Easton Highline and left Northampton County without a way forward.   PA was proud to step in, secure funding, and keep the project on track as part of our initiative to revitalize old infrastructure.

Since taking office, we’ve taken action to address the soaring costs of child care and fill the child care teacher shortage. We’ve tripled the child care tax credit, secured $25 million to provide child care workers with bonuses and will continue to expand childcare services in underserved regions.

Pennsylvania is once again stepping up to challenge illegal actions taken by the Trump Administration to deliberately harm communities. The removal of signage from the Slavery Exhibit in Philadelphia will not erase the pain of slavery from American History.

I am outraged by what’s playing out on the streets of Minneapolis by ICE under the direction of the Trump administration. What we are witnessing is not public safety — it is fear, trauma, and violence inflicted on communities.

When we integrate green spaces within our communities, we create new recreational opportunities, expand outdoor access, and protect our natural resources.   This year we’re driving out nearly $82 million to over 295 recreation and conservation projects to improve green space across PA.

Another successful PA Farm Show!

Since the start of last year, RFK Jr. has fired public health officials, cut critical scientific research, and made it significantly harder for Pennsylvanians to access vaccines.

We’ve taken a comprehensive approach to reducing gun violence rates and that includes supporting local law enforcement.   We’ve driven out $50 million to help investigations of gun violence and prosecute offenders. With these investments, we’re seeing clearance rates rise and homicide rates decline.

Last week, we designated 11 family farms for being family-owned for 100 years or more – including one dating back to the Revolutionary War.   Farming is a strong tradition here in PA & with nearly 49,000 farms we’re making sure farmers have the resources to be successful for the next century.

Yesterday, Pennsylvanians honored Dr. King’s legacy throughout the Commonwealth by volunteering their time and energy at food banks, donation centers, and community spaces.

When Dr. King accepted his Nobel Peace Prize, he said “I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality.”

On this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I know it seems like the Civil Rights Movement is being erased.

We had a great time at the PA Farm Show yesterday. Second Lady Blayre Holmes Davis and our daughter Harper along with my mom and my nephew Dane got a tour from our own PA Agriculture Secretary Redding through the Farm Show, highlighting the very best of our Pennsylvanian farmers.

It’s been three years since I became Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania and there’s still a lot more to do.

Since taking office, we’ve expanded the Property Tax/Rent Rebate program to provide over 500,000 seniors and people with disabilities with the largest tax cut in nearly 20 years, totaling over $314 million last year.   The PTRR program is now open again to deliver economic relief for Pennsylvanians:

With a divided legislature, the only way we make progress is when we work together. That’s how we were able to deliver the largest tax cut for our seniors in nearly 20 years, sending money back to over 500,000 older Pennsylvanians.

With almost 50,000 farms in Pennsylvania and nearly 600,000 jobs, our agriculture industry is directly tied to the success of this Commonwealth.     Growing our agriculture industry is central to building an economy that benefits everyone –including our farmers.

Improving public safety is my top priority as Pennsylvania’s Lieutenant Governor. And by investing in after school programs, increasing resources for our law enforcement officers, and empowering communities, we’re seeing a difference.
