Too many kids and teenagers in this country have experienced gun violence and it’s their voices that elected leaders should listen to if we want to end gun violence. Cheesesteaks are one of the most iconic Pennsylvanian foods and it only makes sense that the steak is made in the Southeast.   It was great to tour Astra Foods in Upper Darby today, the largest employer in the area and hear about the planned expansion to grow their business and create more jobs.

Urban Outfitters is investing in Pennsylvania, creating over 1,000 new jobs in the southeast while retaining jobs in their facilities in both Lancaster & Indiana counties.   I’m grateful to see this home-grown business of nearly 5 decades commit to staying in this Commonwealth.

A global retailer, Urban Outfitters got its start in Philadelphia and remains headquartered right in the navy yard today. I was proud to be with them today to celebrate their next milestone, expanding their facilities and creating over 1,000 new jobs in Southeast PA.   Pennsylvania is on the rise.

An act of gun violence is what brought me to public service, just like so many young voices, advocates, and elected leaders throughout this country. From gun suicide, to mass shootings, accidental discharges, and homicides, every death from gun violence is a tragedy but 100% preventable.

Here in America, every family has a different story of how they first came to these shores. Some of our ancestors were brought here. Some came here from fleeing war. And some came to find economic opportunity. But now that we’re all here, we are all Americans.

Businesses understand that when their employees don’t have access to affordable childcare, they can’t work. That’s why we tripled the child care tax credit for families & created the employer child care tax credit to encourage businesses to support the employees that need early learning programs.

It was great to catch up with Pittsburgh’s Mayor Corey O’Connor today and hear about his priorities for the Steel City.   By building partnerships with the cities and municipalities throughout our Commonwealth, we can better support key economic development for stronger and healthier neighborhoods.

The freedom to live as you are and love who you love will always be protected in Pennsylvania because this Commonwealth is a home for everyone. We are better and stronger when we stand together.

Last night, Central Berks Regional Police lost one of their own in a terrible tragedy. Blayre and I are praying for the family, friends, and loved ones of Officer Kristen Yeager along with our entire law enforcement family.

Since the start of this nation, Pennsylvanians have been called up to defend their Commonwealth and defend their country against threats to our freedoms, at home and abroad. On this Memorial Day, we honor their memories and pray for the families whose loved ones aren’t with them tonight.

Over the past three years, I have worked with our state partners to provide investments to local organizations that offer safe and enriching programs to children and teenagers to keep them out of trouble. The Lighthouse is one of these places and was recently awarded $500,000 to support their work.

From moments of crisis to lifesaving care, our EMS professionals are there when Pennsylvanians need them the most, answering the call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. During National EMS Week, we thank our first responders for serving without hesitation and without fail every single day.

The right to worship freely and without the threat of violence is fundamental in this country— and it’s on all of us to ensure that remains true. My prayers are with the families whose loved ones aren’t coming home tonight. May their memories be a blessing.

This month, the next generation of Pennsylvanians are graduating from college, becoming teachers, nurses, engineers, researchers, and even public servants. You are our future leaders and it is my hope that you continue to live and work in this great Commonwealth and serve your fellow Pennsylvanians.

Our nation’s heroes wear many uniforms, but they all share one mission – protecting our freedoms. Thank you to every active duty service member and military family for your service and sacrifice.     On this Armed Forces Day, we salute you.

We must bring down housing costs for Pennsylvanians. And through our Housing Action Plan, we’ve identified thirty strategic initiatives to increase our housing supply, protect renters and support local municipalities.   I joined local officials in Sharpsburg today to discuss local housing needs.

From local police to our state troopers, our law enforcement officers bravely protect our communities every single day.   In this National Police Week, we honor the officers who gave their lives in the line of duty and recognize the immense sacrifices of all who serve this Commonwealth.

Our youngest Pennsylvanians are the future of this Commonwealth and that’s why since taking office, we’ve made sure every ladder of opportunity is available for you to succeed.   Whether your path takes you to an apprenticeship or college or aerospace, we want you to be able to do it right here.

Pennsylvania’s aerospace industry grows every single day, creating new jobs, powering our economy and competing with states like Florida and Texas.   We are in the game and we’re here to stay.

To our early childhood educators, our school teachers and academic professors, thank you for showing up every day to educate our youngest Pennsylvanians. What you do is more than just teaching, you are shaping our futures. Happy Teacher Appreciation Day!

Access to medication abortion is fundamental to women’s reproductive healthcare. I'm grateful to see that access to mifepristone has been restored by the Supreme Court. Pennsylvania will never back down from ensuring access to abortion remains safe and legal in this Commonwealth.

From forest fires to house fires, our firefighters show courage, sacrifice and unwavering dedication every day.   Today on International Firefighters Day, we recognize the men and women who have fallen in the line of duty and honor their service to this Commonwealth. They will never be forgotten.

Seeing the direct impact our state investments have made on school districts is always inspiring. I was back in Farrell Area School District today to hear about the impact that school safety & mental health state grants have had throughout the district and the plans for a new after-school program.

Our workers and unions deserve better wages, safer work environments and to have dignity while on the job. I will always stand with them in this fight for workers' rights.    In solidarity, happy May Day, Pennsylvania!

PA’s Housing Action Plan:   🏘️ Increase housing supply 📄 Expand access to housing ✏️ Strengthen pathways to housing stability 🪏 Lower costs and speed up development 🤝 Improve coordination and accountability

Our Housing Action Plan is the first ever comprehensive plan that will increase our housing supply, make homeownership more accessible, and support collaboration between local communities and developers.

The LIHEAP program is an essential service that Pennsylvanian families rely on to help heat their homes in the winter and stay cool in the summer. By providing this additional support, more families and seniors are able to stay in their homes and apartments. The federal government must fund LIHEAP.

The Republican justices on the U.S. Supreme Court have been chipping away at the protections of the Voting Rights Act, and today's ruling is one more dagger to the heart of our freedom to vote and make our voices heard.

We're focused on bringing down costs here in Pennsylvania and our Lightning Plan is part of how we bring down utility bills.    Doing nothing is not an option because the stakes are too high for working class Pennsylvanians.

I’m closely monitoring the reports of a shooting at tonight’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C. What should have been an evening celebrating the First Amendment and a free press instead turned into a moment of fear and uncertainty.

It’s been a fantastic couple of days here in Pittsburgh and I want to thank everyone from the local and state officials who have helped put this on, to our police and EMS workers who have been working around the clock to keep people safe.
