For Day 10 of the #30DayMapChallenge's prompt "Air" we're resharing a map we made last year to cope with the anxiety of waiting to hear from family and friends in the transboundary Grenadines following the direct hit by Hurricane Beryl on July 1, 2024.

For the #30DayMapChallenge Day 9's prompt "Analog" we wanted to share some of the map jewelry we've made over the years, particularly our custom, handmade, geospatially accurate—but wonderfully, uniquely imperfect—jewelry. (If you're interested, reach out at [email protected]!)

For Day 8 of the #30DayMapChallenge's prompt "Urban", we refreshed a map of Kingstown, the capital of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, visualizing the impact of 2m sea level rise on essential services downtown, that was originally published in Guerrilla Cartography's “Water: An Atlas".

For Day 6 "Dimensions" of #30DayMapChallenge, we are going to brag about the GIS+Blender course we took from Elizabeth Rosenbloom. After only 5hrs of learning the UI and ways to work with geospatial data within the software, we were able to make this sunrise rending of the Galapagos Islands 🌅

For Day 5 "Earth" we refreshed a Pacific bathymetry map we made for our own "Map-A-Day" project (many years before the #30DayMapChallenge existed) to build up our original portfolio!

For Day 4 "My Data" of the #30DayMapChallenge we refreshed a map @alyolli.bsky.social made almost a decade ago while living in Portland, Maine after a day trip via ferry to walk around Peaks Island with two wonderful childhood friends (and a trusty old chunky Garmin GPS 😉)!

For our next map for the #30DayMapChallenge, for Day 3's prompt "Polygons", we made a quick map of Burlington, Vermont!

Another quick map for the #30DayMapChallenge for the prompt "Lines"! We grabbed Magnificent Frigatebird tracking data from Movebank and highlighted one of their tagged birds, "Boyd", who demonstrates the vast distances this species can explore while foraging.

We're going to try and keep things QUICK and SIMPLE for the #30DayMapChallenge this year! So here, for Day 1 of the Challenge, is our response to the prompt "Points", showing all the trees in and around Cheesman Park where @alyolli.bsky.social lived for her first half decade in Colorado!

Another belated #30DayMapChallenge map for Day 22 and the prompt "two colors". @alyolli.bsky.social made this map of Columbia, South Carolina as a part of a triptych of maps of meaningful places for a friend for their wedding!

Day 17 of the #30DayMapChallenge’s prompt was “collaborative map” and @alyolli.bsky.social and Rachael Carpenter took inspiration from the annual @nacis.bsky.social Conference map quilt to collaborate on a map quilt of their own of #Denver, #Colorado!

Day 15 of the #30DayMapChallenge's prompt is "my data" and we're republishing @alyolli.bsky.social's map that she made in 2016 of a ferry ride to and hike around #PeaksIsland off the coast of #Maine with friends!

For Day 14 of the #30DayMapChallenge, Rachael Carpenter made a map of the ten largest #rivers in the world by discharge volume for the prompt "world map".

Day 13 of the #30DayMapChallenge and Rachael Carpenter took the opportunity to experiment with #Eduard Relief Shading software for the prompt "a new tool" to map #volcanoes in #CentralAmerica along the #tectonicplates!

Day 12 of the #30DayMapChallenge’s prompt is “time and space” and we’re republishing @alyolli.bsky.social’s map that she originally made in 2016 by digitizing Mississippi meander belts mapped by cartographer and geologist Dr. Harold Norman Fisk in 1946 and overlaying them on his original map.

We’ve got a second post for Day 11 of the #30DayMapChallenge: Rachael Carpenter mapped sea ice extent in the arctic during the fall and spring equinoxes!

Day 11 of the #30DayMapChallenge’s prompt is “Arctic” and we’re resharing a series of 14 projections of Svalbard, Norway that we overlaid on one another for artist Perri Howard of Velocity Made Good in 2020 which she then had etched on a magnesium plate and printed as a letterpress edition!

Day 10 of the #30DayMapChallenge’s prompt is “pen and paper” which @alyolli.bsky.social tried her hand at in a fun “C-ART-o Camp: Exploring Art Materials and Methods” workshop with Molly O'Halloran and @sarahbell.bsky.social at the @nacis.bsky.social Conference in 2018.

Day 9 of the #30DayMapChallenge’s prompt is “AI only” and @alyolli.bsky.social used it as an opportunity to test out Adobe Illustrator’s Generative AI Text to Vector Graphic Beta Feature. She tried “tombolo” as the prompt phrased in different ways and put the best results together to share!

Day 7 of the #30DayMapChallenge’s prompt is “vintage style” and we’re going to post another that @alyolli.bsky.social made just-for-fun in 2018 of #Portland, #Maine which was also published as part of the 2019 #GeoHipster calendar.

Day 5 of the #30DayMapChallenge’s prompt is “a journey” and (while we love this prompt) we don’t have the time to make a new one today, so we’re posting about one @alyolli.bsky.social originally created in 2019 for Guerrilla Cartography's “Atlas in a Day: Migration”.

Day 4 of the #30DayMapChallenge and @alyolli.bsky.social mapped the minimum hourly wage for the countries of the #Caribbean for today’s prompt “hexagons”.

Day 3 of the #30DayMapChallenge and @alyolli.bsky.social took the opportunity to use the prompt “polygons” to map the World Time Zones (since today is Daylight Savings Day)!

Day 2 of the #30DayMapChallenge and @alyolli.bsky.social made a quick map of #SouthAmerica's #waterways for the prompt "lines" today!

Going to start by back-posting #30DayMapChallenge posts! Day 1's prompt is "points", which led @alyolli.bsky.social to make a map of #LakeChamplain with mini inset maps of every single point geographic feature with "Point" in its name (e.g. Shelburne Point) within #Vermont's borders of the lake.

It's been incredible to have Rachael on our team for the past year, we're looking forward to many more!
