Used Codex for porting a Rust project to Zig. Claude finished the job in 3m (one shot). Codex deleted the original source files *while* porting, then struggled to extract large const arrays from git history using a Python script. It eventually succeeded (all tests pass) after 15m.

I had a bug in my new ML-DSA implementation that caused Verify to reject all signatures. I gave up after half an hour. On a whim, I threw Claude Code at it. Surprisingly (to me!) it one-shotted it in 5 minutes. A small case study of useful AI tasks that aren't generating code that requires review.

Giving VS Code another try. The first thing I noticed is that the Copilot chat window can only be closed via "Hide/Toggle Secondary Side Bar" (!?). There's no "Close Chat" action. Cmd+Shift+I will only open the chat. Cmd+W won't work either. They are obviously desperate for devs to use their AI.

Quick reference for DuckDB C API versions 🔢

Neat way to isolate DuckDB state during extension development: SET home_directory='.' DuckDB will automatically create ".duckdb", INSTALL will download to .duckdb/extensions/, etc.

It took a little research to figure this out, but here's what you need to do to get Claude to automatically format code after changes. In my case, format-file calls prettier, ruff, zig fmt, etc., depending on the file extension.

Better Auth is not made for serverless environments. The library adds a whopping 1400K to my Cloudflare worker. And even after stubbing out Kysley, which I don't use, it's still 1 MB. @clerk.com should put this on their website. github.com/better-auth/...
