i've been delayed for dozens, maybe hundreds of different reasons over the years, but "we're not paying the people that keep everyone safe because a political party doesn't care about doubling healthcare costs" would be a new one. not even sure how to approach it, tbh.

i would have been content just for maine to reject voting restrictions and enact a red flag law. but the fact that with 94% of precincts reporting both questions cleared the 60% mark easily is amazing. it's hard to get north of 60% approval in the best of times, and these are not the best of times.

as someone who believes that the cyber resilience act is a potentially Y2K-scale challenge facing the industry, i continue to be shocked at how many conversations i have with people in adjacent fields - build systems, devtools, OSS, etc - who report zero mentions of the CRA in their own travels

this. exactly this. my life is further complicated by the Boston ties for Mookie and Roberts (one of The 25) and my general awe of Ohtani weighted against the fact that my wife's family is Canadian. not looking forward to telling her how this turned out tomorrow.

my hope coming into tonight was that they didn't hang a loss on ohtani after he threw on three days rest. my hope late in the game was that yamamoto wouldn't be scapegoated for pitching on zero rest. while my heart goes out to blue jay fans and all of canada, then, what a game for baseball fans.

bluesky has a ton of baseball and all the shark scientists. what else could you want from a social media site?

don't get me wrong, i'd be willing to risk flames if it meant the red sox were playing tonight, but being able to just watch and not have the outcome be life or death is its own unique thing

the only thing keeping me from bursting into flames is the fact that my team isn't playing
