BMI isn’t a problematic measure because it sometimes misidentifies football players as fat. it’s problematic because it’s a tool that’s used to make arbitrary cutoffs that impede individuals access basic to healthcare and stigmatize them. its inaccuracy should not overshadow its redundancy.
