*NURSERY* Yesterday we had a visit from Crew Commander Matthew, Firefighter Kat & Firefighter Iain. We explored the fire engine, had a turn of the hose & learned that we call 999 in an emergency. Thank you so much for coming to visit. More photos to follow on the Online Learning Journals. 🚒 💦 🔥

We had a visit from MP Euan Stainbank. We know our children love our learning experiences in our outdoor environment. Our plan is to develop the space at the burn and our woods to make it safe for our children to learn and play. Thank you for taking the time to come to visit us!

At our Discover and Do Time P7/6 played a game about the water cycle! They also were set a challenge of making a foil boat that could hold the most number of glass pebbles! Lots of excellent problem solving and collaboration! They also explored different sea creatures using an interactive game! 💛

In P7/6 this week our children have shown an interest in creativity and art tasks. I set up different ideas for them to explore and was so impressed by the high levels of engagement! ⭐️

*NURSERY* Today we enjoyed a fun Stay & Play Bookbug session. A huge thanks to all families who made it along. We had excellent singing and great recall of our Stupendous Story Tiny Crab is a Tidy Crab. Using the claves we chopped ingredients to make some interesting soup! 😂 🎵🎶

*NURSERY* We have a strong interest in baking/cooking so today a few of our wee ones baked delicious strawberry and pear scones to accompany our fruit at lunchtime. They chopped, measured and mixed the ingredients confidently. Well done! 👏 😀 🍓 🍐 #MarvellousMealsinWhitecross

*NURSERY* Today some of our enthusiastic, confident & capable cooks made potato salad to have with our lunch. We scrubbed, peeled & chopped the homegrown potatoes. Chopped some spring onion then combined the cooked potatoes with natural yoghurt & the onions. ‘This tastes delicious’ ‘Thumbs up’ 😀 🥔

*NURSERY* Today on Forest Friday we celebrated @mathsweek.scot by comparing the sizes of leaves, trees and even ourselves! We had so much fun exploring our beautiful local environment in the sunshine. ☀️ 🌳 🍁

*NURSERY* Today we created our weather bar chart. @mathsweek.scot Sunny had 5, Sunny with clouds 4 and cloudy 1. Our wee ones have been really engaged with this so we are excited to continue to take this forward each week. ☀️ 🌥️ ☔️

Today in P5/4/3 we welcomed Mr Paws who will be supporting our children with their learning about emotions, regulation strategies and communication. Everyone was very excited to meet him and take part in activities as part of our welcoming to our class.

In maths this week we are learning about decimals and how we use these in everyday life. What better start to a Friday than a game on blooket to test our knowledge! ⭐️

Some fantastic number work from our P2 group this week who have been working on structuring numbers to 100 and from our Spider-Man group who are matching numerals and quantities to 10.

*NURSERY* Today we harvested some home grown potatoes from the school garden with the help of Mrs Heggie. We were interested to discover lots of shapes and sizes. We discussed, compared and are looking forward to cooking with them next week! 🥔 #MarvellousMealsinWhitecross

*NURSERY* One of our wee ones brought a huge bag of conkers to nursery today for us to explore with! We got our safety glasses and wooden hammers and began breaking the shells to get the shiny conkers out. We collected them all in a tub! There was so many. 🍁 🍃 #Autumn

*NURSERY* We also enjoyed a visit from our local Community Police Officers last week. We were keen to see inside the police van and we learned that the police help us and keep us safe. SIMOA our safety elephant even joined in the fun too! 😀
