The idea of building my own little server and using it for whatever the fuck (website, games, storage, etc) is now firmly ingrained in my mind.

Used a backlink checker and found a bunch of sites linking my site. This makes me very happy. Huge fucking morale boost.

Make backups of ALL your art. There was a time mine was all in my failing hard drive and I can't imagine how I'd be feeling losing everything I've made throughout a decade. Read the "3-2-1 backup rule" and get yourself two quality USBs. Check out freefilesync for very easy/convenient syncing.

I get the feel that there will be an initial fragmentation into different platforms (Stoat, Root, Matrix, etc) as people test them out. Will last like a year until there is one clear best option that will spread through word of mouth as people slowly migrate to it. Hopefully something FOSS.
