As someone with a disabling chronic illness, I enjoy hybrid conferences even when I travel to the conference site! I have a busy afternoon and evening of conference events, but I can still watch the morning talks online while recharging in my room.

This horrific story was recounted by
@inclusivescience.ca
who reminded the audience that transphobia and misogyny in science are health & safety issues. It's not political to demand basic rights to exist & work without fear of violence, or to use the bathroom without fear of legal repercussion.

So fortunate that I got to see Sonny Rollins play live, for free, at the Detroit Jazz fest in 2012. he was amazing and had so much energy for a man in his 80s

Listened to the

podcast w Aurora Gozmic talking about their nonbinary gender, and how they explored the possibility of being fully trans but decided that NB was right for them. It was very affirming for me, a gender chaos goblin caught in the middle of a bimodal curve

Fish migrations are somewhat invisible compared to other animals - but no less important to ecosystems and people. Unfortunately, a report out earlier this year found that migratory freshwater fish have declined by 81% since 1970

Kudos to the State of Michigan for taking this important step in protecting our waters from these known invasive plants. The ecological risks of allowing their possession and sale are simply too great.
