I wish this were true! (The first day of Christmas music part, not the Santa thing.) I got Whammed in a grocery store two weeks ago. Out of the game and it wasn’t even mid-November!

We used to toboggan down the slope of a ravine. Multiple trees. Slope so steep we often couldn't get back up it with the toboggan. At least one tree fallen across our path that, with the snow, created a jump mid-slope. Looking back, I am ASTOUNDED no one died. 🤣 Had the BEST time, tho.

1/ Learning loss didn’t come from “lockdowns” or remote instruction. It COMES FROM (still happening) illness. Illness caused by COVID. Illness that makes kids miss school and teachers miss teaching. SICK DAYS. And the vascular damage that causes incapacity to think & retain. This is still happening.

If you haven't seen Deadloch yet, it is a TON of fun. A murder mystery with an astonishingly high body count that is also hilarious. Yes, Redcliffe is... a LOT, but she settles down a little after a couple of episodes, and you *will* end up loving her. Highly recommended. Can't wait for season 2!

We have First Snow! Not even any Warning Flakes this year, just woke up to white on the ground. So of course, my neighbour is out with his leaf blower. 🙄

Once a stage manager, always a stage manager - but there are some times I wish I could turn it off. When there is a sick performer on stage, for example, and I am in the *audience* and cannot do anything about it. 😔

My utter menace of an orange cat, who last week refused to eat for FIVE AND A HALF DAYS (and whom I syringe fed for three and a half) (we are not even going to talk about the vet bills😭) is currently climbing across me to try to get at my toast. All food is for him now.

I highly recommend both the TV show and the podcast. It will make you laugh and fill you with unspeakable rage at the same time. And somehow the fact it's a Canada/Australia co-pro makes it even better.

Fellow cat owners - my orange boy hasn’t eaten since yesterday morning and I’m not sure when to start panicking. He hasn’t barfed since about 4am. Clearly still nauseous. Tired and miserable but no other symptoms. No obvious pain points. Litter box seems normal.

All the stories I hear coming out of this centre kindness - donating to charities, supporting players from the opposing team. And the vibe in Toronto is amazing right now. I hope it's the same in LA. I'm not really a sports person, but this is such an amazing example of what sports can be and do.
