Started a new book today, “White Trash Warlock” by @drslayton.bsky.social. It’s got me hooked by chapter two. Feels like “Dresden” but with an Okie twist. Nice to see someone from this state of mine come out with an instant classic. Check it out, if only for the original title choice.

I finally got around to “Watchmen: Chapter 1” on Max. I love the meta joke of Jeffrey Combs playing Moloch and having a confrontation w/Rorschach.

I know I’m a bad author before I even begin when I take stock of the ideas I’ve had rattling around for a while and realize how close certain elements skew towards more popular and prolific wordsmiths.

I’m sure there are those who would disagree with me, but I’m truly amazed by every episode I’ve seen of #creaturecommandos.

I closed out 2024 with “Night of Knives,” and began 2025 with “The Fall.” This will be a great year.

I've heard that Esslemont is easier to read than Erikson, so maybe my plan to start (third time lucky) my foray into "Malazan" with his Night of Knives rather than his companion's Gardens of the Moon will be the sufficient kick up the ass I require. Three chapters in, I'm eager for more.

I’m putting my New Year resolutions out there now, with two weeks to go, so that my faithful chums out there can keep me honest. 1) get the podcast going. May need insight into using audacity and getting album art. 2) get back to writing, even if the plane walking aspect seems like someone else.

Unless I factor in for novellas in “The Bound and the Broken,” 2025 looks like a 48 book year for me. Doesn’t sound like much until you think of 11 of those being “Malazan,” 6 “Wars of Light and Shadow,” and all four (excepting novellas) “Bound and the Broken.”

If a person was to start “Malazan,” hopefully for good this time, would it be best to read things in publication order or give in to their neurodivergent tendencies and go plot order (Gardens of the Moon to Memories of Ice, then back to Deadhouse Gates…)?

Slight change up to my list of start/restart books: I’m swapping out “The Wheel of Time” for “The Wars of Light & Shadow” by @jannywurts.bsky.social . I’ve collected four of these books and put it off for a couple years now. 2025 is when I pull the trigger.
