@phantomstrider.bsky.social I just saw your most recent vid and when you mentioned the 1/3 pounder it reminded me in some places you can get a 1/2 pounder too. They sell them at a US/UK chain called Wimpy. All Wimpy's were closed in Australia by 1976 because they couldn't complete with McDonald's.

The video's a year old so I've no idea if Gold still shows this version, I hope they do. Also I wonder if they've got longer versions of any others?

@simpsonstheory.bsky.social Do you remember these? We seem to have gotten a lot more exclusive Simpsons food than the US. Or at least stuff made especially, rather than being otherwise regular chocolate/cereal, etc, just with Bart or Homer on the box to bait the customer into wasting their money.

Today in 1987, “Good Night Simpsons” aired on The Tracy Ullman Show. She thought The Simpsons were beneath her and wanted them gone, and despite being in one episode when they became a huge hit, she later tried and failed to sue Fox to get more money out of the show. @simpsonstheory.bsky.social

@dirtyfeed.org Did you see that Comic Relief Gladiators sketch? I had high hopes but it might be the worst sketch I've ever seen. 2 hours in and so far the best bit has been a Mr Bean sketch from the early 90s that was cut down from 5-10 mins to about 2 and a half at most.

Interesting to see how similar but different it is with the parts that didn't make it into the finished product. Should put it on the next DVD set.

@cwickham.bsky.social Simpsons Season 32 starts its first non-Sky showing 16th January at 7PM on E4, just so you know. My TV guide doesn't list what's new and what's a repeat so I had to actually click onto the listing. It seems only 7pm showings are new, other eps that day are all repeats.

In the New Year, apparently The Simpsons is permanently moving from regular Channel 4 to E4 instead. I know it’s only a tiny change but since it’s been on C4 since I was born I’m genuinely distraught. 💔 I know how people felt when it left the BBC now.

Today my first dog Sadie would have turned 20 years old. She was awesome and I still think about her every single day.

BBC Xmas schedule here. Is it bad that I’m looking forward to Beetlejuice and Rocky Horror (even though I’ve seen them both many times before) on Xmas Eve as much as I am The Weakest Link, Wallace And Gromit and Gladiators later on? But ITV? HALF PAST EIGHT AND ALL’S CRAP!!!

On this day in 1996, The Simpsons premiered on BBC1… and were easily defeated in the ratings by Sabrina The Teenage Witch. That’s disappointing. But BBC2 was the more natural home anyway, especially with Robot Wars helping it make 2 cool. And now, the channel has neither. How the mighty have fallen.

It appears that things are no longer coming up Millhouse as Pamela Hayden is sadly leaving The Simpsons after 36 seasons. She will be missed and I wish her the best with her retirement.
