Here's the polling data for the Barred in DC Best Pizza poll conducted on Twitter back in September. Left 3 columns are the actual Twitter poll results. The right 3 columns are the adjusted ratings when you take out people who've never eaten the particular pizza

Filled in since I took this pic. The Eastern is a great wine bar - cocktails are great too, mostly $13-14.

Warning/reminder: Alexandria launches fireworks over the Potomac at 7:30 p.m. and midnight tonight, and there's also a display on the Mall at midnight. (Not clear if those will be launched like July 4 or not.)

Pretty ridiculous HH til 10p today at Sly, the rooftop (mostly indoors) bar of the Morrow Hotel. DJ at 2-6p. Several things are like 66% off normal price. But took them 45 minutes to even get special HH menu printed, another common lack of comms between marketing -managers-staff

Thorough story by Tim Carman, Emily Heil, and Warren Rojas about the unsettled or worse state of the DC restaurant scene based a lot on decisions by humans. Interesting analysis of liquor license cancelations though was this end of a 3 year cycle?

Seems like common misperception out there - Dolly Parton’s foundation doesn’t actually pay for the books and the shipping costs of all those free books to age 5. They handle selection of books and logistics but in DC, DC government pays for it

Went to this ok (but cheap) spot in Montgomery County last week. 4.8 rating with 2200 reviews because the server says before you get check you can get a free drink if you give a 5 star google rating, which prob explains all spots with inexplicably tons of ratings

Expecting a big crowd at the Noche Buena event at Bar Providencia that they took the chairs from the bar. Not yet crowded. Banana punch and the pan con pollo were outstanding. Wear an ugly sweater and you might get a baby shot of Mezcal or tequila,

Went to the Christmas Village in Baltimore in the Inner Harbor yesterday. Features a carousel and Ferris wheel, and an indoor market area (there’s a fee to get in). Smart for them to serve many of the drinks in branded mugs.

One thing that hasn't been part of the discussion is that even in testing, Waymos are making the public fast charging infrastructure in DC almost impossible to use. They clog up charging stations, sometimes a dozen at a time, but the company doesn't build their own infrastructure.

Heard from one restaurant group that they were bracing for the holidays to be weak like it has been since August but said they’re flat with last year which is a win for them. I Feel there’s may be a bit of rebound spending that doesn’t make up for the losses earlier tho
