Spent the last couple of days at the #copimconference and reflecting on the range of personal and disciplinary perspectives represented. Leads to a mix of: “I can take this away and use it”, “I’m enjoying this discussion“ and “I don’t know what to do with this yet”. All are good in their own way.

Final part of my cross-platform trilogy, assuming I don't discover new options! I rarely use the lifts, unless I have heavy baggage. But for completeness (double lifts replacing the double stairs, both lifts starting at ground level, one needing to travel to meet me) it's a respectable 2:20.

My station route test part 2 has surprising results. Same start and end points but using the stairs (into car park, up main stairs, across bridge, down platform stairs) comes in at 1:57. I did not expect such a significant time saving over route test part 1.

Because I like to KNOW, I am testing the fastest route to the far platform at my local station. From the underpass entrance to the far platform (underpass, slope, another slope, down the stairs) is 2:36. At a reasonably brisk pace, considering it's not yet 07:30.

Starting to find my feet in my new role at @lboroor.bsky.social. It's been a good start: I've had a warm welcome, my staff card and IT account were ready and waiting, and all the trains have run on time (so far, touch wood). Pleased to be here!

Interesting sessions at #RLUK25 this morning on artificial intelligence. Libraries stepping into the conversation and connecting their institutional communities with information but also acknowledging some uncertainty about what support is needed in a rapidly changing technological environment.

On the train early and headed to #RLUK25 Sleepy start, but much better than traveling on my birthday, which was the alternative! Looking forward to reconnecting with people and catching up on good practice.
