Many times in my life, I have described the flying fluorescent pink jellybean #moth to people, or google. I got a lot of wrong answers, and added to a lot of watch lists. But today, I saw one again, for the first time in ages. And I had a camera. Boom.

Just your average day. Then I point out all the awesome caterpillar in trees above us. Bam. Awesome day :)

As impressive as the big mushrooms are. Its the little fungi I photograph, that I spend the most time looking at. Some nice #Nectria pseudotrichia? from my worksite drilling large camphor laurels today. #FungiFriends

To stack or not stack, that is the question lol. The TG6 inbuilt stack does quite well considering I am just holding it in my hand and the mushrooms in the other. But not always. bit of wind or moving shadows, or even insects can make it a blur

Yea you get insane coloured coral fungi, but even the white stuff is really pretty if you take the chance to appreciate it.

Today I managed to find my favorite book as a little kid and I am so happy. It took a lot of searching. But 5 year old me would would approve of the results. :)

It shouldnt make a difference how pretty a bug is, on whether you rescue it from drowning. But it does! Anyway heres a cool tiny green #moth I thought I was photographing dead in a dogs water bowl, then managed to get a finger under it and let it go outside :) An ye dogs water bowl cleaned refilled

My token #zombie of the day, was an exciting one for me :) As its a #fungi I have only encountered a few times before, also growing from a tiny spider in the moss. The photos arent great, but I was on the side of a cliff lol

Today I got to visit some nice jungle in a steep gully to remove some tricky weeds. The whole day you could have just blindly waved a camera around and taken a photo of something stupidly cool.

Todays token #zombie find, was more just revisiting a tree branch in a park. Its as good as ever, with plenty of #spider victims on display.

I took a moment under a Bangalow palm tree today, to photograph the leaf litter under me. They drop a lot of fruit. A lot. And if the combo of beetles to bore holes in their seeds shells, and #Penicillium coccotrypicola fungi to colonize it, is present. It gets quite weird and funky down there.

Today I battled so many passionfruit vine species in jungle it was ridiculous. But I scraped by lol. All day I looked for a cool weevil beetle to show ‪@gridflay.bsky.social‬, and in the end I had to resort to slow stalking a baby stick insect on a leaf as a substitute.

Token #Zombie of the day, was this huntsmen #spider caught by vines. Perhaps an old #purpureocillium victim. But who knows what microbes now call it home? Well hopefully future me lol

Today I worked to reclaim forest from cats claw vine, with dagger and venom. It was humid and damp and wow @regularslimeguy.bsky.social you would have loved it! The floor was #slimes. A few quick snaps I thought you would enjoy.

I picked up a cool #leaf today, that had a cool #fungi on it and when I zoomed in I noticed there was an adorable micro baby funnelweb #spider lair on it. plant/fungi/animal. I wouldnt say we live beside each other in harmony, but we do each lean on the others to survive.

Today was a busy day. But I warned the boss, today I was gonna try find a cool #twig for the poet @tregallery.com Twas a bit slimey but check it out.

Not the camera for the job, but this morning I worked beside a curious #platypus. Which I assure you, made my day :)

I think the thing about good jungle, is just the density and variety of life, among the leaf litter. Its easy to be upset watching big jungle trees get cut down. But its the diversity of life beneath them, thats lost along with them, that makes the tragedy so complete. #Marasmius #FungiFriends

The only fungi people ask me to ID when they find out I like fungi.

Gosh I love a good rotting soggy log. Get one in a spot with decent diversity and you can take a hundred photos of it, and see all sorts of cool stuff you didnt even notice at the time. This is how slime molds look when I first notice them. Logs rock. I mean they still wood, but they like rock on :)

THE LOG IS LAVA

4x zoom on the TG6 seems ok, until you try filming birds or wasps. These are our most aggressive paper wasps, and have round UFO shaped nests. I get stung by these, and our primitive jumping ants, every now and again. Part of the job. More effective wakeup than caffeine after a night of Mechabellum.

Token #zombie find for the day. Not the most incredible find, but I did get some great photos of blurred ants crawling all over it trying to do stacked photography. Maybe a spider eating fungi, being eaten by a fungi eating fungi?

Another rookie error is under estimating how rad your most common local #grasshoppers and #crickets look to strangers on the internet. Their common ones don't look like that, and they are like, "neat". I know I do when I see some rad weird new hopper

Some round #fungi from my day. Its awesome the diversity even grazed land can have IF it also has giant old trees.

Most days, you are only one cool big catty sighting away from cracking a smile and being in a disgustingly good mood. So its worth keeping an eye out imho
