Question for the Bluesky brain trust. Has anyone here ever been bitten by a toad bug? I got asked the other day, and you know, I never have. But I am a small sample size. Are they always adorable?

Giant stinging trees #Dendrocnide excelsa It can be hard to know you are under them. So its worth keeping an eye out for the dropped leaves. They are still very much "live" when it comes to being able to sting.

I find the safest way to label them is as #bryophyte as that covers liverworts, hornworts and mosses.

Sometimes they are referred to as #hepatics which has caught me off guard wondering exactly what people are talking about when they use the term...

I often find #Marchantiophyta quite difficult to differentiate from mosses and ferns. It doesnt help they often grow together side by side, or that they have so much variation even within their species.
