I'm not Luke Stephens' biggest fan but his video on the EA buyout does make some salient points. 1. the consortium seemingly overpaid for EA 2. he's unsure why they overpaid by 25% of their value 3. the $20b debt means there's very likely to be more microtransactions, cuts and/or studio closures.

My DA:TV conspiracy (don't take this seriously) is the 10% PIF (the Saudi backed folks) owned of EA, was one of the reasons we basically got no nudity (well, topless Rooks) beyond the Character Creator in the game. I absolutely think the Devs wanted more nudity and spicier romance scenes.

As someone who worked as a "Cultural Consultant" on Veilguard, the idea that EA is now owned by the groups it's owned by is hugely disheartening. We are worse off as an industry if Bioware ends up pressured to back down from attempting progressive themes in their games due to who owns EA.

I booted up Assassin's Creed 1 again and realised why I find it so frustrating. The controls are awful. It was definitely designed for a controller and not keyboard and mouse. It also takes 4 or 5 screens to quit the game. I can't just press Escape and select Quit.

So it's looking like Ghost of Yotei maybe better than Ghost of Tshumima, including the writing and pacing. All the worst people in the world will be mad, especially as two of the writers worked on Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

I'm going to be contrarian and say no game is perfect (nor do I consider one perfect) However, there's absolutely games I thoroughly enjoy which I do think are solid 9/10s. Dragon Age 2 is in that list, as is Neverwinter Nights and Mass Effect 1.
