Women were already banned from becoming doctors (as of 2022), but yesterday the Taliban announced women could no longer become nurses and midwives, shuttering institutions where women were enrolled. Given the sex segregation in care, this is severely endangers women’s health.

I'll never forget a workshop when an editor said the first thing they look at is a submission's references to see if they are formatted to journal specs - because that was how they knew the author was serious about publishing in that journal. I remember thinking, "There goes tenure!"
