Part of my is scared that once I get to actually interact with academic mathematics in a university setting it could kill math for me. Because my journey with math has always been ridiculously personal, driven by whim and curiosity. Maybe I'll get to be the same in academia but I just don't know.

I've realized that school has trained me to specifically *not* try to interpret literature whose meaning is not entirely clear to me at first because of an ingrained fear of that negative mark for not finding the"correct" hidden meaning behind every metaphor.

Doing that one thing I know I shouldn't do where I pretend to forget terminology and stuff so that if I get stuff wrong I can pretend I'm just stupid and ignorant instead of just mistaken which is for some reason less embarrassing
