On the bus. Bus is surprisingly not-nice by Amtrak standards. Like, it’s not bad but it apparently doesn’t have the advertised power sockets or WiFi, the seats are clearly worn out and not super comfortable, etc. Plus, it’s an hour late.

Amtrak bus is late. Of course. Unlike the trains, the bus is untrackable, so there’s no way to even know how late it is. Honestly I’d be less annoyed if I were allowed to use a toilet here at the station.

Ah, LA Union Station. The place where they forbid paying passengers to sit down or to to use a toilet, because local culture considers it preferable that nobody be able to take a piss than the risk that an unhoused person might be able to. Gods, I fucking hate this city.

The person seated behind me, apparently very VERY drunk, has decided to start blasting music from their phone and “sing” along in near-unintelligibly-slurred speech at midnight. It’s bothering more than just me, I can tell. Nobody’s confronting the drunk asshole though.

This train is suddenly very cold. I thought it was just me but I just heard two other passengers comment on it. Very sudden change.

At the last station, a child got on the train. This child is seated directly in front of me. This child has already: • Demanded to push the emergency call button. • Run into the lounge car and had to be forcibly retrieved before they injured themself or someone else.

Dining Car staff just came through coach class with a few slices of leftover chocolate cake for free. I got a piece. It’s pretty darn good. Or I’m just really hungry. Or both. Probably both.
