I started working full time on Anukari in February 2023, and the road from blank code editor to something I’m excited to call 1.0 has been full of surprises, successes, flops, and redemptions… but the most rewarding part about the journey has been the people it has connected me with.

Well it’s official… The training wheels are off and Anukari v1.0 is out in the wild! 🎉

Version 0.9.33 is out, and it has a bunch of arbitrarily-routable audio FX, including reverb. I like the 3D model for the vaporwave reverb so much I decided to create 48 of them to see how it would look, and randomized their parameters to get this weird dreamy thing. :D

The reason why Anukari's default visuals are clouds in a beautiful blue sky and shiny metal spheres almost certainly goes back to me growing up using Bryce3D. The visuals can be completely customized in case that's not your vibe. :)

Sometimes people see demos of complex Anukari presets and worry that you have to be super technical to use it. That's not the case at all! It's a ton of fun to explore what you can do with even the most simple presets. (Of course if you are in the mood to go ultra deep... that's there too.)

I had the immense luck of having my booth at NAMM this year next-door to the Modern Biology booth for the Pocket Scion. We found chances to chat and also to check out each other's products. Tarun is just the nicest guy you could hope to meet, and I the Pocket Scion is really fun. :)

Today I'll attempt to answer the frequently-asked question that boils down to "wtf is Anukari???" Which, to be fair, is a great question. :)

I've been pretty quiet for a few weeks... it's not because I have nothing to share, but because I've been so deep in the cooking I haven't had time. Here's a little window into the soup (pardon the temporary lack of new 3d assets for the new object types).

additive + physmod = power duo for anything, but esp for bass design!!    sine machine and @anukari.bsky.social  go so well together, makes sines sound like screaming crumpled paper texture!  fucking insane imo

An orchestra of Anukaris! This is just Anukari running in Ableton with some basic automation, no other plugins or effects. The main instrument plugins are run through Ableton's two main buses into two Anukari effect plugins for global reverb/delay effects.

This is showing an early prototype capability for triggering exciters (mallets, oscillators, etc) via modulation signals. Here a mallet is triggered by an LFO, with some envelope generators adjusting parameters. Hoping I can make this solid for release!
