Brian Wilson truly was a special person, and he'll be rightfully missed as one of the greatest, most influential figures in American rock history. I wish him and his loved ones well. ❤️

Been asking myself the difficult questions lately, now that college is done. Mostly they're of the form "How much time should I/do I want to allocate to X part of my life". Music's absolutely up there in my rankings, but career is too, especially since without the former I can't support the latter.

It's okay to like things that only you like in your circles. Conversely, it's also okay to NOT like things your friends like, or disagree on certain things or beliefs. Of course, there should be some common ground between you and them, but you're your own person at the end of the day.

There have been many times when I've struggled at college, having to battle my very worst aspects in order to stay on course. Sometimes the voice in my head tells me I'm not good enough to belong, more often it tells me I'm too different from my peers to belong. Either way, it's surprising (and it sucks) how the human condition makes it so the smallest, pettiest things can send your emotions into an unstoppable spiral.

A big part of succeeding at something is just setting yourself up for it. The most productive people I've seen can't STOP setting up. They open up multiple options to solve a problem, make the environment more conducive to a desired outcome... easier said than done of course, but every bit helps.
