Exciting news for Dane County! This week I was proud to announce the formation of a County Property Utilization Workgroup - a new initiative to take a hard look at every piece of county-owned land and facility, and ask: Are we using them smartly, efficiently, and in the public’s best interest?

🚨 Overdose Spike Alert in Dane County 🚨 Public Health Madison & Dane County has issued an alert after five confirmed overdose calls in just two days. We don’t yet know if there’s a change in the local drug supply but this is a public health emergency.

Highway M is officially open! This week, I joined local and state partners to cut the ribbon on the completed County Highway M Improvement Project—one of the most important infrastructure investments in Dane County in recent years.

Did you know? Thousands of property deeds in Dane County still contain racially restrictive language, remnants of a discriminatory past that shaped who was welcome in our communities. While these racial covenants are no longer legally enforceable, their legacy persists.

I am happy to announce that the Richard Dilley Tax Center at UW-Extension is now open to assist taxpayers with all their filing needs. Last year, over 2,800 people received assistance, netting $4.3 million in returns - this makes a huge difference for working families & individuals in Dane County.

Last night, @govevers.wisconsin.gov unveiled his biennial state budget. I was happy to attend the speech & hear about the governor's responsible fiscal planning. From early childhood to retirement, this budget supports programs necessary to not just survive, but thrive.

I am thrilled to announce that Charles Tubbs & Sheray Wallace have been selected as the 2025 City-County MLK Humanitarian Award honorees.

I'm thrilled to announce that Dane County has awarded over $50,000 in Partners in Equity (PIE) grants to some incredible local organizations working to advance racial equity.

Recognizing the profound emotional impact on students, teachers, and families after the tragedy at Abundant Life, Dane County has partnered with Custom Canines to offer additional support. Therapy dogs have been introduced to provide comfort & alleviate trauma, playing a role in the healing process.
