I slept for about an hour and a half last night :D

time to do a few week’s worth of relatively light work in one evening!! shoutout burnout + procrastination :)))))))))))

wowzers!! they opened ableton, tweaked 3 knobs and closed the project again for the fifth time this week!!

much to do but no motivation at all :|

just remembered I was gonna post a bunch of squirrel photos i took and entirely forgot to look at the little guys!!

realizing im making what feels like 30 minutes worth of progress on a track in the span of 6+ years never fails to make me wonder what the hell im doing half the time

Also yeah reminder to replace your earpads sometimes!! They can genuinely affect how your headphones sound, not to mention all of the skin/hair oil and sweat over time… It’s worth it.

It doesn’t really matter since I’m taking them off to replace them anyway but if anyone has ever replaced earpads on HD650s, can we agree that the way you’re supposed to remove them is so stupid?? Even when you’re careful the pads literally start to peel apart…

can you really call them an inspiration of yours if they don’t make you want to quit music sometimes

so... I finally push through and just make a track without focusing on complexity and realize, 'wow, this is actually good even if it's pretty simple!' ...and then I go listen to music I like and immediately remember why I overengineer and start feeling bad about the simplicity again... guh...

just recorded 6 minutes of vocal improv on my webcam mic because I forgot I changed the audio driver to stream production on discord 😀

I think I’ve spent about 24 of the last 48 hours working in Ableton?? Cool new music soon hopefully :))

I swear the better I get at music production the worse I get at actually finishing projects and developing new ideas

These two assignments will only take about 30 minutes each, therefore I should put them off until tomorrow when I’m also planning on working on the much bigger assignment that will take significantly more time and energy!!

Constantly being surrounded by producers who are much more technically skilled than I am has been both an incredible learning experience but also incredibly overwhelming at the same time. Feel like I’m constantly in spaces where I struggle to feel comfortable with my own abilities as they are now.

more than ever right now making raw art from the heart without any major commercial incentive is an incredibly important thing to be doing. do NOT be silenced by your own fear or doubts

generally getting very sick of people not understanding art. there are no set rules. there's a natural flow from experimentation and research towards general consensus of what works and what doesn't. just cuz your findings break someone else's conventions doesn't mean it's not gonna work. lmao
