Thankful for this group of public school advocates who joined me at the Statehouse to testify against SB287 - which would make school boards partisan and require a primary.

American culture is wild. Somehow not spending money for 24 hours is a major challenge for enough of society that it can be considered a boycott.

Those involved in our schools are busy in spring helping students, planning events and supporting teachers. They should NOT be more concerned with running in a primary than supporting our schools. Ask your senators to vote NO on SB287.

Help us keep our schools nonpartisan. Ask our senators to kill this bill that would make school board candidates identify a party affiliation and go through the primary process.

- Live somewhere other than your hometown. Reinvent yourself - Travel far & often before you have kids. Once you do, your vacation goals change and it costs you even more. - Apply for jobs that interest you, even if it doesn’t perfectly align w/your experience. You never know what could happen!

Rep Jim Lucas, who made the news last session for flashing a gun to intimidate a student at the statehouse, files a bill to eliminate gun free zones at schools. It really sucks to be a Hoosier.

This proposed bill not only makes school board races partisan, but is also requires candidates to go through a primary. This would not only discourage many from running, but it could also drastically increase the amount of money needed to be spent to campaign. No to Senate bill 287.

And so it begins. Party politics have no place on a School Board. Republican doesn’t mean “MAGA”. Democrat doesn’t mean “Raging Liberal”. This would disenfranchise people from running - feeling that if they aren’t part of political party, they’d have no chance. No for House Bill 1230.

I didn’t think at all about DC yesterday, or elections. It’s nice to remember what civil adherence to law is. Now it’s time for my feelings of impending doom to move back in.
