Because I'm taking a few weeks off from commissions, I'm making a point to spend some time working on longer, personal projects. This one from Ignis Art I'm using to try to do something less literal. I often get bogged down in realism so I'm trying to force myself out of that. #minipainting

I realized working on this that I was going too subtle with the secondary light source. So now I've enhanced the lighting with some airbrush glazing. Now I'll give it a gloss varnish and hit it with some oil washing to really enhance those shadows and provide that extra contrast it desperately needs

For #minipaintong I'm definitely the speedster with the focus feat. I painted up the base of my SBG force in a week. Of course, the mandatory downtime after the focus can extend a bit longer due to burnout.

I've been continuing to work on this merry fellow, trying to achieve a more subtle, and more complete version of two distinct lighting sources. One, a warm natural white and the other the glow of the dark crystal while still maintaining the real colours of everything on the model.

The second of my holiday pieces, something that's been lurking in my "to paint" pile for a long time. I've been reluctant to start because it has TONNES of detail so I'm not given much opportunity to flex with freehand. It is however gorgeous and I'm just going to have to play with lighting.

I have brought this little fella up to this point. I've been wanting to get NMM working with some heavy weathering. NMM remains the weakest part of my game so it's nice to have it looking good. I'll let this sit for a bit and then I think I'll bring in some oils to try to push it to the next step.

I've made a start on this little guy, and, because he's a personal project that I'm going to sink some time into, I'm practicing and trying things out. I've started with a blue NMM and I'll add environmental colours as I go.

I've closed commissions for a few weeks for a mental break so I've prepped some personal projects I've been holding off on. If I can bring myself to do it, I'll paint at least one up to competition standard for Arc Open.

I've been dealing with some burnout recently due to day job so mini painting has been a struggle. However I've managed to finish what I've decided is my last commission piece for the year. A fun Amazons Blood Bowl team.

Finally took the opportunity to paint a mini using a Zorn palette. It's an experiment I've wanted to do for a while. I think it's turned out well, I need to practice more highlighting though.

Working on a blood bowl team commission at the moment, Orcs! This client wants a bit of blood and grime on them but not too much so it's a fun balancing act. Cool thing about these minis is they're wearing sports clothes rather than regular armor.

The upcoming Barrow Guard and Barrow Knights from GW are so great and exactly why I haven't purchased the older models. GW have been crushing it with skeletons for years. My 3000 points is probably going to expand to 6k this year.

I've finished painting up my Radukar the Beast and unleashed him on my unsuspecting local community and he's going pretty hard. I'm hype AF for the new #warhammer announcements for Soulblight, especially that gorgeous Vhordrai.

Nice little commission piece, a little forest gnome and his little forest friend. I took the opportunity to play with underpainting and mood lighting on this piece, trying to pull the Red/Green colour scheme into the very green environment.

After a game of #AgeOfSigmar today, I got some work in on commissions. These minis resemble but are legally distinct from characters in #CurseOfStrahd

I mean, she's the pinkest thing I've painted in a long time. Also, apparently the pink that's there makes some people uncomfortable. I also need to do more pink, I usually do purple instead.

Somebody print me some Monkey Island miniatures so I can LeChuck some paint onto them, I'll probably just Drybrush Threepwood though.

Having been in the hobby for more than 25 years, I'm now for the first time actually PLAYING Warhammer with an ARMY. This has led to the need for me to have an appropriately sized table and some terrain so I've been working on putting this together. #Wathammer #AgeOdSigmar

Spearhead night last night. SBG vs KO. KO aren't in a good place. Pic shows right before the charge phase in my turn 1. Both charges failed. Blood knights were wiped out after 2 turns but Arknaut Companies were wiped out on the same time by skeletons. Top of turn 3 KO wiped off the board.

It's the hord of skeletons that make up for me only having blood knights as a hammer. They work hard and they play hard. #AgeOfSigmar
