Heartbroken over the news today about Rare, and Rare related projects. Sympathies to all those affected... Unfortunate timing that the biggest Donkey Kong game since the days at Rare is around the corner, where it's celebrating the studio's contributions... Almost feels like a eulogy at this point.

Played a bit of Yooka-Replaylee from @playtonicgames.com at #LVLUPEXPO2025 and it was GREAT! Super polished gameplay and animations! I didn't even plan on coming here, didn't even know it was happening, came to Vegas this weekend for Dead & Co at the Sphere, lol

One of my favorite things about the DK series, what makes it distinct from Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc, is that at its core is about animals. So I'm happy to see it highlighted with the world themes in Bananza. Beach-Monkey, Jungle-Ostrich, Savanna-Giraffe, and Snow-Zebra. Animal imagery everywhere!

Donkey Kong reaching out to a frightened Odd Rock (the weird little stone companion in Donkey Kong Bananza) and gently comforting him is... I don't know. One of the most genuinely true depictions of when his character was at his best under Rare? DK with empathy. DK with a heart.

There was no way I wasn't going to practice the heck out of him and make him my main, which he still is to this day! Duck Hunt was also my first video game, was fate.

It's gotta be Zelda for me, I loved the concept of Echoes and playing the game however you'd like using them. Travelling through a vast open world in search of a strong monster, to then defeat it, and capture it, to defeat other stronger monsters... it was like Pokémon done right!!

I don't know who Suki Waterhouse is, the others make sense though.
