We reviewed 73 professional societies across 42 countries. Only 18% had codes of ethics or similar documents addressing responsibilities of individual members. Most focus on advancing science & far fewer articulate responsibilities toward sustainability or society.

Despite decades of research, environmental crises continue to escalate. So we asked: Are ecologists and environmental scientists (EES) doing enough — and do we have clear guidance for how to act?

The German research foundation @dfg.de allows AI assisting its review processes. Another way of reducing the massive unpaid workload in these processes is to decrease the length of proposal to focus on the most important parts (e.g. 5 (?) pages of state of the art isn't important).
