I'm in a really good place right now where I have games in my backlog, but I'm not currently playing anything specific, so I can focus on my writing. I'm super productive at the moment but I know whenever I decide to start up something new I'm TOAST. (stares at Death Stranding 2 in fear)

This week I wrote a few chapters in a book I haven’t really touched since early this year. I’ve been doing other exciting stuff instead but hoo boy it felt good getting back to it. Hoping to finish draft 1 by 2026. 📖

It makes me happy to see multiple references to Sneakers today on BlueSky, in the wake of Redford’s passing. I used to think it was a niche film, a fun spy caper only a few knew about, but its excellence seems well documented on this platform. If you haven’t seen it, today’s a good day to fix that.

Proud of Amanda for bringing several of her wacky animal voices to Genndy Tartakovsky’s Fixed, which is out on Netflix today. It is extremely not safe for kids. Maybe the raunchiest animated feature of the century. And what a beautiful accomplishment that is.

One of the things that cracks me up about Frog and Toad is that Frog obviously loves his best friend but still messes with Toad’s head all the time. Like full blown emotional manipulation. But, you know, the fun kind.

The cheer from the crowd when the TMNT logo hit the screen in the 1990 movie was of a decibel level I have never experienced again. Also, the reaction of New Yorkers seeing New York for the first time in the 1998 (bad) Godzilla movie was very satisfying.

Wow, that was A LOT. The pace was dizzying. But when it worked, it was delightful. I think I love the cast the most. They all fit what Gunn is going for. I could drop hot takes about a lot of the narrative decisions but it made me smile and cry and cemented my love for Superman.

On Milo’s Yoto Player, there’s a kid version of Werewolves of London that plays on the radio station. It’s sung by children and yet the lyric “little old lady got mutilated late last night” somehow made it through.

Today, Milo is 6! He is my hero, now and forever, facing more challenges than any kid his age should have to deal with. But he does it with bravery and humor, and inspires me to do the same. I love you, buddy, and wish you all the fast cars and marbles and happiness in the world.

While interning at MTV Films I dropped off a package to an editing bay to discover Chris Rock (supervising a cut of Pootie Tang) napping on a couch. I knew then that I’d made the big time.

I cannot believe what I am seeing.

Brian Wilson might not have been made for these times, but I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have lived through a fraction of them. As a SoCal boy, he wrote the score to my home, my youth, my hopes and dreams. A brilliant mind and a beautiful heart. RIP

I first thought it was weird that the dogs on Paw Patrol can talk, but the cats can’t. Then I realized that would require Nickelodeon to hire and pay more voice actors and it all made sense.

It’s always so silly in a movie or show when a character turns on the news and the newscaster starts talking about exactly the thing they need to hear. Not even mid-sentence. The perfect sound byte every time.

One of the rules of parenting is if you want to capture something cute your child is doing on video, the second you press record they will immediately stop.

One of the days of the week in Elder Scrolls is called “Turdas” and thinking about it makes me chuckle every time. I’m such a child.

I finally saw Sinners last night, which was absolutely riveting. One of the most refreshing things about it was that it didn’t treat old-school vampire lore as outdated. They’re weren’t like “Oh is that what you think vampires are like? Huh, you watch too many movies.”

Interesting trailer! Kinda scattershot, but I’m digging everything I see. Interesting to have the main characters get along so well. We’ll see how long that lasts! Holy cow is this game pretty. Only 385 days to go. Piece of cake. Yup, yup.

Finally watched this. It really feels like a big boost for the MCU. Almost a reset, of sorts. Apologies if this is obvious, but they’re gonna lose, right? Galactus devours Earth, the 4 bail into 616, and Reed and crew are hungry for payback/redemption so they take the fight to Doom. Maybe?

“Immediately” is a funny word. It means instantly but it takes five excruciating syllables to get out.

They got me. Let’s go. The cut got a little same-y near the middle but I love how low and quiet the music tone was. Sufficiently epic.

Val Kilmer was one of my favorite performers, period. Even when playing someone ugly on the inside, it was hard not to love his characters. Effortlessly charming, and ferociously passionate about his craft. I’ve missed him on screen for a while but knowing he’s really gone hits too hard.
