New Zealand has just become the first country in the world to weaken the climate action targets that it had set in law. They’ve done this to allow the intensive livestock industry to pollute the climate even more without having to pay for the damage they’re doing to the planet.

Vraiment formidable! Paris offers more than just a success story—it’s a blueprint. The lesson is clear: change is possible when policy, infrastructure, AND public space all point in the same direction. Cities [can] design environments where cycling's the fastest, safest, most enjoyable travel mode.

“The transformation is astonishing. [Paris] has quietly—& quickly—become one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world. What started as a series of emergency “coronapistes” or pop-up bike lanes, built during the pandemic has evolved into a permanent bike network spanning hundreds of kilometres.”

The head of transport at the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit: “Not only will this result in more CO2 being emitted in the midst of a climate crisis, it will hit the UK’s drivers in their wallets.” "A number of studies have found that PHEV drivers do not reliably charge their vehicles."

We're now deporting babies, U.S. citizens, and disappearing people into foreign torture centers without due process. Oh, and I just heard on The Daily that deportations are DOWN under Trump compared to Biden. This is what you get when you vote for today's Republican party.

“If we lose the federal funding to build it, it will never be built and everyone will be stuck in traffic or walking. And Charleston, the area has 100,000 homes approved and a quarter million people are expected to move here." I hope Charleston does the right thing.

Trying to eliminate EVs is a rather strange move from a president who supposedly wants to bring back manufacturing jobs. EVs are the future and other countries know that, so that's what they'll demand. Without EVs, the U.S. auto industry will have very few exports in the near future.

As the climate crisis escalates, the interdependent atmospheric, oceanic & ecological systems that constrain human civilization will lead to compounding & regime-shifting changes that are difficult to predict in advance. The LA fires are a heartbreaking example.

My previous apartment had a metro stop about a five minute walk away. The problem? I only lived there for about a year, and it was being rebuilt the whole time. I really wish I had been there for the reopening. 😕

Unpopular opinion: higher gas prices are a good thing. They lead people to drive smaller cars, switch to electric, and take public transportation.

Cities across France are adopting free public transportation. The costs are surprisingly low, but the benefits include improved air quality, a healthier population, and reduced traffic congestion. Sounds like a fantastic idea to me.

MBTA, Massachusetts's public transit agency, is severely underfunded, with at least a $3 billion annual maintenance infrastructure deficit. According to a recent news report, it's "always broke." This is why investing in public transit is extremely important.
