Ugh, the competition is going to be fierce this year. For the #Exoplanets Research (XRP) solicitation, they anticipate ~18 proposals to be selected. This is a significant decrease from the ~25 anticipated from last year.

I'm being somewhat facetious here, but mini-Neptune is up there with the portmanteaus "tranet" (transiting exoplanet) and "hycean" (hydrogen ocean) as being either bad, unnecessary, not properly descriptive, unclear how to say, or some/all of the above.

PSA: It is "sub-Neptune," meaning below Neptune size. Mini-Neptune could imply it is Neptune-like, which is incredibly vague and we don't generally know for sure. Also, sub and super are opposite prefixes. You don't hear anyone calling super-Earths "maxi-Earths." 🔭 #Exoplanets xkcd.com/3103/
