Nearing the end of a challenging job from Tenerife, just 90 Sarcophagidae to go! 😥 At least this one doesn't look like all of the others; Miltogramma aurifrons. Still available for ID and imaging projects, UK and Europe

On Monday our instagram account was hacked and then deleted. We received a ransom note to recover it; obviously we couldn't and wouldn't pay, and therefore lost thousands of followers. Meta support was useless. But we're BACK with a new account: @littletollerbooks. Can you follow us there and share?

Latest Family determined from s'Albufereta in Mallorca 2023. Dolichopodidae done! Quite challenging in places but here is Thinophilus flavipalpis, quite a set of palps! New to the Balearics I think unless anyone has more up to date info. ID work done in the UK too!

In Puerto Rico there are 29 species of Chiton & its thought the area with the greatest diversity of polyplacophores in the Caribbean. I believe this one is Acanthopleura granulata, commonly called the West Indian fuzzy chiton (as if I could love them any more!!)

So. Many. Fiddler crabs Left/right - it doesn’t matter what side but one is always an enlarged claw or major cheliped, & they are used for drumming/waving when they see a female. The smaller one is for feeding so they have to work twice as hard as the females who have 2 similar small sized claws

Across the UK, farmers are proving that farming and nature can thrive together. But they can’t do it alone. If the UK Government slashes funding, we risk undoing all this progress.

Playing with images of black and shiny flies for when I eventually get to writing a new key; hopefully. Alloborborus pallifrons (Sphaeroceridae; Copromyzinae) a smart small fly, very 'spikey'. Larvae develop in horse dung (usually), not a species I find often.
