Styrofoam is now banned in CA after producers failed to meet a state-mandated target of recycling 25% of it by the beginning of this year. We’re glad to see CalRecycle taking action to eliminate this harmful single-use plastic from our shelves & environment!

Our Habitat Restoration Team was treated to a day of leisure and a VIP Tour at the Cal Academy of Sciences. On the tour, we had an opportunity to step onto the Roof Garden, see collections of thousands of ichthyology and herpetology specimen, and finally wander into their gem vault.

Recently, our Habitat Restoration Team went out to plant a hedgerow of native shrubs at Hamilton Wetland with the STRAW team at Point Blue Conservation Science. This hedgerow of CA wild rose, Sticky monkey flower & CA sagebrush will improve habitat quality for wildlife & assist with erosion control

The Bay Area has some scenic highway drives—and some are at risk. Hwy 37 (SR37) runs along the Sonoma Baylands & San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Frequent flooding, traffic gridlock, and outdated designs make commutes harder while cutting off thousands of acres of marshlands from the Bay.

This June we are approaching a milestone in which cities will be required to show that they are preventing all trash from entering storm drains. Initial indications show that minimal trash is now flowing through the storm drains in areas with trash screens and other effective control methods.
