I absolutely loved playing through the original Legend of Zelda last week. This is my jank-ass map I scribbled down as I went. For some reason I used lined paper and not grid paper, but it got the job done.

I was looking around for something kinda obscure to continue my retro journey with when I found the perfect game. Did you guys know they made a game based on that weird Mario Brothers movie? Anyway it was pretty good and I wrote about it.

1000xResist has freaking got it. Hooks in immediately, vibes off the chart. I've only just started but I already feel like it's gonna be one of those things you think about forever.

We had the chance to review Citizen Sleeper 2 and I really fell in love with the game. I definitely want to go back and play CS1 at some point. If you're looking for a short-ish game with fantastic writing and characters, then I recommend checking it out.

My guess for the "mysterious unannounced Japanese game" in the #Xbox developer direct later this month is a new #Nier game. Feels like about the right size of reveal for this kind of show

After putting it off for far too long, I've finally been playing Ghost of Tsushima. I'm ashamed to be this late to the party, but what a darned great video game so far. 🎮

Motored through Tender is the Flesh in a few days. What a wonderful, horrific tale. Initial impressions are that this is critiquing the meat industry. But it goes much deeper than that, analyzing our tolerance for cruelty, indulgence, and morality. CWs off the charts though. 📚💙 #horrorlit

Wrapped up #Cuckoo and enjoyed it! The book is dripping with cruel horror and excellent, believable characters. Overall, the first act was the strongest. The real horror is that people do treat other humans as they did the kids in this book. Human horror outweighs the supernatural. 📚💙 #horrorlit

I love unique insults, so this passage from Cuckoo got me good: "As if to say, you're nothing special, you Spencer's Gifts-looking bitch. You dillhole. You're just a sack of roadkill and old wigs. You're a pound of hamburger somebody dropped on the carpet." Truly masterful work. 📚💙

After finishing MFR I wanted a total change of pace, so I picked up and started playing Kill Knight. I've only done half a dozen runs, but this thing is insanely addictive. High-octane, bullet-hell, craziness. Perfect for the Steam Deck as well. #gaming

FINALLY finished Metaphor: Refantazio after a bit of a break. I think the game basically nailed it on all fronts. Excellent video game.

Been digging through The Unofficial GBA Pixel Book since it arrived last week. The art from this era is honestly a marvel, and undoubtedly my favourite platform for pixel artwork. #gba #gaming

Super proud of the work we did in our first year. As a passion project, I don't think we expected to get more than a handful of views from our friends, so getting over 2,000 different people looking at it is insane. Hopefully next year will be even bigger and better 🎉

Been playing some catchup on comics that had eluded me this year for a GCR piece I'm working on about the best books of 2024. I won't spoil all of them, but I will say I'm very disappointed I slept on Ice Cream Man for so long. Surreal, psychological horror at it's finest.

I recently finished reading The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley. It was a very fun time and outside of the genres I usually read - almost hanging out in slice-of-life territory at times. I learned after that this was the her debut novel. Can't wait for the next one! #booksky 📚💙

#Wicked was excellent. Set design and costuming are a lock for best of the year. The performances were top-notch, and the music was obviously fantastic. Perhaps most surprisingly, the pacing was perfect for a long 2-hour 40-minute movie. Stoked for part 2 next year!

Put about 6 hours into #Deadlock so far. Too soon to say if it's got the juice, but it's got me watching builds and guides when I can't play, so that's something. #gaming

Today I've been catching up on Blade Runner comics, reading 2029, 2039, Tokyo Nexus, and Black Lotus. Ash's stories were best, did a good job filling the gaps between the movies without adding too much unnecessary lore or complications. Ash's personal arc of nasty cop to ally was also nice to see.

Finished up Lord of the Flies a couple of nights ago. Never read it in school. I see what it's doing, and I respect all the *society* moments we see analogously through the children. But, overall, I don't think it really did it for me.

Finished The Way of Kings today, consider me officially a #StormlightArchives fan. It was a long one but worth every minute. Words of Radiance in the queue for tomorrow. 💙📚 #BookSky
