As I'm back on my superhero nonsense a bit atm, one extremely nerdy thread: One Costume every single Marvel Rivals character should get except possibly for ones I haven't read any of their appearances. Some will just be a major missing costumes, some will be fun.

Don't suppose anyone has an idea what this object is we found in the recently expanded paths in our local woods. The protrusion on thr top seem to be some kinda broken weld maybe? I'm somewhat concerned it looks like a small shell or something?

I find it fascinating that although whales are the largest animals on the planet there's a ton of species we just don't know much about. There are 24 species of beaked whales and some have only been discovered in the last few decades.

So, the D&D spell Transport via plants requires a "large or larger plant" is normally ingerpretted as trees but I'm trying to work out strategic options that could be kept on our airship. Prize winning marrow? Giant lilypad? Giant rhubarb? Mass of algae? Kelp?

I don't have carveries often, probably less than once a year, but I think owners don't understand what it means when they say"help yourself to roast potatoes"

Was thinking about character who I'd like to play in Marvel Rivals, and then just decided to draw some - starting with Bishop cos a guy who absorbs damage from other attacks to unleash it could be a very fun mechanic. I'm very much team big long hair when it comes to Bishop designs.

Did a first play test today of my new TTRPG system, provisionally named "Wizard of Feathers" - a low fantasy rules lite system where you are mages who gain spells and abilities from communing with bird spirits - think D&D Warlocks/cantrips x Pokemon collecting on bleak mountainous steppe!

Don't suppose anyone has experience with getting round Costa Rica, cos on consideration probs a bit ambitious to drive there myself and shuttle quotes are more than the hotels. 😬 Possibly even if someone knows of guides who would do like a "hotel transfer with birding"?

Booked a trip to Costa Rica for the back half of November! Never been to Central America before so my plan is functionally "expand my Life List + Bird-dex list a ton" with November in the 3 places I'm gonna stay.

At this point, new additions to my bird list I've seen in the UK have all been vagrants this year, as today I made possibly the smallest detour I've ever done (a small lake next to the A1 on the way back from London) to finally add Ferruginous Duck: also delightfully known as the "Fudge Duck"

Yet again, Little Auk and Pomarine Skua vex me *shakes fist at the wind* as did the Red-flanked Bluetail I did however in trade get a few species I don't get to see much of including Firecrest (2nd ever sighting!), Little Gull (maybe 3rd ever sighting!) and Purple Sandpiper!

Okay so, this is a skill I've never mastered living in a land locked county. With strong winds heading from the west tomorrow, does anyone know where in Kent would be good for seawatching? I wanna finally get me a Pomarine Skua 🤣 I'll also accept Little Auk, Storm Petrels or rarer Shearwaters.😅

One thing about going to see rare wading birds like this vagrant Baird's Sandpiper at Rutland Water today, is you walk miles to see them but when you do find them at least they are complete derpuses who put on a show and just walk right up to people.

I honestly think Peacemaker (the show) is an excellent example of how to run a story with bad guy but not villain protagonists. Like, the core cast are mostly morally awful in different ways but it comes out of a place of wanting to do the right thing but being extremely fucked up human beings.

So this morning I wanna talk about a principle of design I have named "Kettering-proofing". The basic thesis is that *any* design choice has to be able to withstand both the most bad faith interpretation AND the most obtuse interpretation. This can apply to both rule systems and physical design.

A very rare sighting of a wide spread species a least weasel at Summer Leys, Northamptonshire just now. They are the smallest of all carnivorans but proportionate to their size, among the most powerful of the whole family!

Random Fantasy Premise: When deities are discussed as greater or lesser powers or equivalent, it's actually basically like a sports league where there are set numbers in esch category but can be promoted or demoted.

If you asked me who my single favourite superhero was, I think eventually after much hand wringing I'd say She-hulk. There's just something about a hero who believes in justice and de-escalation, who has dysphoria, trauma and anxiety and is pulled between heroics and normalcy that resonates.
