We had a hard freeze a few days ago. I was able to rescue a big batch of nasturtium seeds for next Spring. Remarkably, we had a warm day yesterday, and the surviving nasturtium flowers were still being visited by honey bees.

And just like that we've gone from a killing frost (decimating the garden and flowers) to mid 60s F. I had to change out of my felt lined shirt and pants. It's like late Spring outside. Crazy!

I’ve listened to Nick Drake since early 1970s, probably have most of his recordings, even some of his mother Molly’s songs. When I heard this collection of pre-Five Leaves demos and archival history was coming, it was an instant purchase. The interviews about this collection sounded fascinating.

In case anyone hasn't noticed, US Gold is up to almost $3,900 and ounce. This (like other things) isn't normal.

I've been an on and off again fan of Billy Joel's work since the early 1970s, and I have to say that the latest 2025 documentary (I'm just starting part 2 now) is quite good. I had no idea of the complexities of his very early days and family life, but it certainly explains all of his songs.

In case anyone is interested, Percival Everett’s book ‘James’ in SO good. I remember Twain’s Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn vividly. Such a marvelous retelling from the perspective of James. I’ve enjoyed Everett’s novels and short stories for many years.
