My iPad is limping slowly into that good night, so rather than strain it too much today I decided to work out some things in my sketchbook instead and honestly I really need to do this more often. I really don’t know if I would ever have come to this conclusion otherwise.

I’m organizing a holiday market with friends and I am scared because it’s not something I ever saw myself WANTING to do, but here we are! Let’s hope it’s successful enough to make us delusional enough to try again.

I made the mistake of getting angry and posting about Canada post on threads, haha, what a horrible place. I cannot understand why Canada post gets such vitriol, and how people can be so willfully obtuse.

I am sad to report that I found my new bestie’s body on the porch this afternoon so…I suspect they were actually not doing too hot in this photo.

The only reason my shop is still open is that I have open applications to markets that I applied to with my shop so like…it has to be open for someone to look at it. But that’s literally the only thing it is currently doing for me and I’m trying not to lie in my bed and cry but the temptation….

I’m trying not to feel like the universe is conspiring against me…but it’s getting harder.

One of my favourite cartoonists is Nicolas Presl. I only have a couple of his books but they are entirely silent, no dialogue whatsoever. If you’re a cartoonist you should see if you can find one of his books, never once have I felt like I was missing the words.

Why is it that this period of insane humidity also happens to coincide with my building cycle and now nothing is drying. 😑

I don’t know why I torture myself watching GBBO. They make perfectly wonderful looking treats and then shove them full of raisins and dried fruit and then the judges tell people that PB and J is a “strange combination”. 😭 it’s heartbreaking.

Ok, so I might have finally gotten the right product for water etching and I’m pretty happy with what’s going on here. I’m not 💯 sure if it’s going to work for everything I want to do but this is promising.

You ever have a thought that is just a series of images in your head and you don’t wanna forget it, because it’s a good one, but also it’s past your bedtime and converting it to words is just not wording, and you’re so beyond drawing it out because it’s colour dependent and there’s no time for that?

I’m working on some oil diffusers. I’ve never used this white earthenware before so this is one of my tests! I did a slip inlay because it would be boring otherwise. Hopefully this test is successful and I’ll have these with me for holiday markets.

Earlier today for the first time IN MY LIFE, I used the last of the toilet paper roll and didn’t put a new roll on. I’ve been feeling guilty about it all day, but tell me how no one else in my house gives a rats ass because how many times have I sat down and then had to cut off mid-stream to fix it.

I’m delusionally making things in my studio with no fall markets lined up (where did all my usual markets go????) and the online shop is crickets so…I guess I’ll just have to learn how to eat pottery.

Working on a small army of ghosts! Not sure that I’ll be at any markets, I feel like I missed out on them or I don’t know. But some of these will be in a local shop, and I guess the rest I’ll be putting online.

Why can’t the lactose just go all the way through in a normal amount of time, like corn?

I gave myself permission today to finally give up on a book my husband really enjoyed and wanted me to read. Usually his recs are good, but this was a Struggle to get through and also contained descriptions of violence that I just…can’t handle right now.

Bummed to find my book Cat Dad, King of the Goblins on Libgen and not even credited to me! I didn’t see anything earlier because I searched my own name. Also that site is fucking shady as hell it took me like 10 pop-ups to get a screenshot of it.

It feels like summer ended early this year, so I’m all over oak leaves and acorns rn.

Good news everyone, our complaints were heard and they’ve removed the Jukebox AI! Remember the next time you see a company pulling this loser behaviour that you can call them out and change minds!

REALLY really bummed about this. But the response or lack thereof isn’t surprising. Once, when they were only in BC, I placed an order and begged them in multiple emails not to ship via UPS (iykyk) but they refused and Lo and behold UPS immediately lost them and the reprints didn’t arrive in time.

I have a shirt that has something wrong with it and it constantly gets tiny holes. As such I was less concerned about stains but then I started using it as a visible mending sampler and now I kind of can’t wait to wear it. There are still 5 stains and 3 holes to go.

I deeply need to go touch grass, and I’m gonna take this moment to mention that maybe you too need to get off the internet, climb down from a high horse or two, roll around on the ground, breathe in some dirt and a bug or two, drink a huge glass of water (slowly) and then get some sleep.

Dear whoever makes my phone. I would like to listen to my audiobook and music at the same time. I know, I know, but that’s what I want.

A skunk died in the middle of the street near my house last night and some helpful asshole took it upon themselves to put said dead skunk in the rented dumpster bin in my driveway currently (the ones for construction debris etc, we are cleaning out the garage and yard).

I opened the kiln today to a pretty unfortunate glaze test 😂

Iiiiit’s Storygraph monthly wrap-up time!! With the dissolution of de minimis looming over me this month mostly all I could handle was fluff. Some old fluff. Some new fluff. But @hellocookie.bsky.social’s Pillow Talk was a highlight of the month! It fed into some nostalgia I’ve been feeling.

As a former comic letterer I feel this one in my bones.

So according to the internet this butterfly is extirpated in Ontario but I saw at least 20 of them all over my neighbourhood today and I nearly cried. They are so tiny and perfect and blue (on the inside of their wings).

Ah yes, the air show. My favourite time of year, when for 4 days, every 5-10 minutes, items on shelves vibrate and rattle and every thought in my head is driven out by an overwhelmingly loud jet engine flying low over my home. What’s not to love!

Working on Halloween themes buildings and these hearses are making me laugh to draw My favorite part of doing this is doing little to no sketching so it’s the exact opposite of how I normally draw which is 40 of the same drawing on 40 pieces of tracing paper or layers

Wow. Bell is at Fan Expo offering FREE Ai portraits. At an even full of REAL artists trying to sell commissions and art made by HUMANS. This is really disgraceful. Not super surprising coming from Bell, but I’m also super angry with Fan Expo? What part of this is remotely acceptable?!

Nightbitch, by Rachel Yoder. The movie is good but the book captures so viscerally what it is like to be a creative person and a mother and feeling stuck and trapped by your own choices and by society’s expectations.
