Half a yard off closing down and they're just passing around us. Joelinton appears to be on the way down physically and he's not got enough talent to compensate.

Outcoached and outplayed. Nick Pope is finished at this level. Lost the game in the middle of the pitch. Basketball style game and we left our most athletic midfielder out the team and started a centre midfielder who can't run. Make it make sense.

I mean this sincerely I hope he gets time to sort this out ...but our owners won't put up with this for much longer. It's not been anywhere close to good enough since the cup final.

He's watched that for over 20 minutes and hasn't made any changes or attempted to improve our situation. That's genuinely worrying.

Change the shape FFS. No solutions in possession in a 433 as they're man marking and we can't get through , around, or in behind them. Get some pace next to Woltemade and get them turned.

Need to change the shape to a 442 or 352. Either way Woltemade needs some pace up top next to him to open up the spaces next to him. WHU not having to turn to defend space in behind. Also, need to counter attack quickly as WHU midfielders don't recover quick enough.

Amanda Staveley - selling England's starting centre midfielder (and shoo in for next year's world cup) for a relative pittance because you didn't hire a competent finance director wasn't very high performancey. Selling Anderson and Minteh alone was enough to see her get her P45. So poor.

Technique is everything. Late movements, brilliant twists and turns to escape pressured, ability to disguise the action, feints to goad opponents, & always an instruction on every pass. De Jong and Pedri are different class.

This is what keeping the ball looks like btw. If it looks like they have an extra player it's because they do when they have the ball. Their GK is as good as an outfield player, ours can't pass it 10 yards.

Hi Chris, I picked up your book 'a view from the foothills'. I've not been able to put it down since I got it. Very enjoyable read. Thank you for your years of public service.

Catching up with Educating Yorkshire. Teachers rewarding poorly behaved children with prizes for behaving as they ought to have been behaving in the first instance will never not blow my mind. No chance kids who actually behave from the off are getting any form of reward 😂

A penny for the thoughts of Ekitike tonight. Isak - will have to start, British record fee. Wirtz - will have to start, 2nd largest transfer fee. Mo Salah - undroppable. Where does that leave him? With his arse firmly glued to the bench.

£130m is decent business for a bloke who spends half his time on the physio table & cannot play against a low block. Remarkable that Liverpool are still spending mega money on strikers that have to have space in behind the defence to be successful when none of their opponents give them that.

I watched the euros ...watched Germany play a few times too ...Woltemade is, in my opinion, a number 10. They'll need to sign a striker that can stretch the back line too ...he's not that type of player. I suspect they'll have half an eye on him playing behind the striker in a 451.

Should have taken the point. Good performance in the circumstances. Referee v v poor. Time to go and get Eddie two strikers and kick on.

Some folk need to go for a walk. League positions aren't determined by transfer windows, just relax. Yes need to get Howe talented but ones he can improve. He's a coach first and foremost, and one of the best in the country. Get him some talent and players who want to learn & he does the rest.

Hojlund available at £30m is a steal. You'd get the same talent that had all the top teams looking at him 2 years ago, but with a different attitude in a much better environment at NUFC. He looks like a player that needs Eddie Howe coaching. Strong, quick, hard working. He could be a top player.

Isak. No sense in doing a deal with Liverpool anytime soon. Wait until the season starts. Another club with a lot of £ will lose a few games or a player will get injured and the market will open up.

On a NUFC transfer saga note: if there was ever any doubt that the biggest transfer accounts are on the payroll of the ‘big clubs’ just read the last sentence below. Why do they want to push that angle if not purely because they’ve been asked by LFC. Just a weird thing to put in there otherwise

England - go to a 343 or 3412 ...man mark the two strikers and play a sweeper, and it cuts out their main threat. Have James drift into the middle and play 5 yards in front of their back line. Get the next goal and you'll go on to win the game.

Jess Carter having a stinker. Would sub her before it gets to 3-0. They need to change the shape, far too easy to play against.

Wish the FA/ St George's Park would teach the ex pros turned Guardiola disciples that you can break down a low block with one touch passing. Tired of watching coache force teams into positional play & scripted passing patterns (always two touch minimum) & wonder why they can't score.

Ah, that's an easy one - because he's a very rich ex-public schoolboy and extremely right-wing, just like the rest of the British establishment, including all the newspaper and TV news channel owners and the BBC board. He's in the club. You're not.

Complete lack of effort from Newcastle this evening. Everyone knew they'd go to anfield and be comfortable with a respectable defeat. Not good enough for a club supposedly "aiming to be number 1" Btw Bruno is so slow he'd come third in a race against a pregnant woman.

Zelenskyy at fault here. He should have come out stronger & said Trump is being bullied by Putin. He needs to goad Trump & consistently undermine Trump's assertion that he negotiates good deals. Has to embarrass him on the daily. That's his leverage.

Trump’s framing of these talks is so wrong. 1) Why does Russia have any right to any sovereign Ukrainian territory? 2) Why’s the US “mediating”? Have both parties asked it to? 3) How can the US be a mediator when it’s seeking its own material gain from at least one party? 4) Why exclude Europe?
