This week someone on my campus used all of their entitlement & positionality to bring trash (putting it nicely) to the faculty & staff listserv. It was awful. The only positive. I appreciate when people show me that they are not a safe space for me.

My mom who has #Alzheimers fell & broke her eye socket 😞 the trip to the ER was infuriating. She was there for 8 hours, I was there for 7.5 hrs & if I wasn't there to speak up for her, they wouldn't have stopped the bleeding, changed her, or given her pain meds on site or an RX for pain meds.

What a great story bc I work here too! I filter everything but I have to say, now that I get a bird's eye view of the 23 campuses, I can see how having an open access email creates a false sense of security. People! our emails are PUBLIC RECORDS, you dear reader can request them (within reason)!

I'd love to know from folks on hiring committees. Do service activities help someone get a tenure track job at teaching institutions? I find at my institution teaching/research are still the top areas. But it's been a while since we've hired. #academiccents #academia #jobmarket
