'The Naked Gun' (2025) Shockingly unfunny. A lot of people have gone right down in my estimation for thinking this is funny. COVID has clearly rotted your brains. Justify that r slur to me and I'll hear your argument for the rest of the film being worthwhile

'The Sea Beast' (2022) Lovely animation, a fabulous feisty girl, Karl Urban swearing a lot (in my head) and some delightful creature design. 'maybe you can be a hero and still be wrong' is a hell of a lesson to build a story around. Blue is the goodest wet dogblob.

'Predator: Killer of Killers' (2025) Went into this with no expectations. Great fun, nicely bloody, actually engaging and with some gorgeous sequences. A rip roaring good time.

'Godzilla x Kong: The new Empire' (2024) I adore this silly film and my favourite kaiju throuple. Dan Stevens is neurodivergent enby goals in this film and I love him for it.

'Last ride' (2009) Gorgeous cinematography, brutal performances. Extremely well done all around. I will never watch this film again. My favourite review of this just says 'devastating!'

'The Ritual' (2025) With a different director, and different stylistic choices, this could have been really interesting, I was reminded of the exorcism of Emily Rose, but not in a way that reflected well on this film. Al Pacino is also here I guess, playing some kind of Redwall badger.

'Adulthood' (2025) All of these people are terrible, learn nothing, have a horrible time, and are trapped in awful lives. Anthony Carrigan is a delight, as ever.

'Spycies' (2019) Utterly baffling. There's a giant spider woman dressed entirely in leopard print at one point, extremely confusing. Rex is a dog's name, but Vladamir is a perfectly cromulent name for a cat?! Weirdly sexualised female characters, but I guess bee girls ftw?

Stalked my watchlists to find three films for week 40. A woman hunted a soldier through the forest to seek revenge in 'The Nightingale' (2018), two captains tried to outsmart one another in 'The Enemy Below' (1957), and a family came under scrutiny for girl's death in 'An Inspector Calls' (1954).

In the midst of my obligatory horror month, I worked in Hush for the Week 40 challenge. Nails the "cat and mouse" aspect -- just wish there was a little more depth, especially regarding the antagonist. 🏹🏹🏹.5

Watched KPop Demon Hunters. Sony’s animation team continues to smash everything they touch. Delightful, relatable story, great characters. Expected more musical moments, but I guess that’s what the singalong cut is for

Bonus bonus #MovieChallenge: Azrael (2024) Admire the ambition, but I don't think it quite achieved what it was aiming for. Casting Samara Weaving as your lead is an extremely strong first move, but not enough to hold this together on its own. 2.5/5

Bonus #MovieChallenge: Adulthood (2025) Not terrible, an enjoyable cast with an interesting premise, but it ramped up in ways that became less convincing as it progressed. Not a total misfire, but might have been better off leaning further into either outrageous comedy or creepy thriller. 2.5/5
